“Collaboration between the Ministry of Creative Economy and HIPMI is crucial to boost the export of Indonesian halal products to the global market and drive national economic growth,” said Minister of Creative Economy Riefky during a meeting held at Menara Merdeka, Jakarta, on Friday, March 7, 2025.

HIPMI Culinary Indonesia is an autonomous body under HIPMI that focuses on the development of the culinary industry, currently encompassing 843 local brands. HCI aims to initiate discussions, inspire collaboration, and provide a platform for stakeholders in the culinary industry to explore innovative approaches in promoting Indonesian cuisine on the global stage.

During the meeting, Minister of Creative Economy Riefky highlighted that HCI’s initiatives align with the target for the creative economy’s contribution to GDP, which is expected to reach 8.37% by 2029, with export growth projected at 5.96%. He also noted that the government plays a significant role in promoting Indonesian halal products internationally, ultimately strengthening the national economy.

This collaboration can also be leveraged to empower MSMEs, helping to expand the reach of Indonesian brands globally. The culinary sector is one of the priority sub-sectors of the creative economy, regarded as the new engine of national economic growth.

One of the key topics discussed was the success story of Sour Sally, a brand known for its diverse frozen yogurt offerings, which has successfully entered export markets such as the Philippines, following earlier success in Dubai, UAE. This achievement was credited to innovative products, strong brand identity, and international-quality standards that allow the products to be accepted by export markets and global consumers.

Meanwhile, HCI Chairperson Cikhita Sebayang expressed her enthusiasm about the meeting with the Ministry of Creative Economy. She viewed it as a valuable opportunity for Indonesian F&B entrepreneurs to grow from small-scale businesses to major players in the international market.

“Today’s meeting was truly memorable. It’s a great opportunity for Indonesian F&B entrepreneurs to scale up and succeed in the international market,” said Cikhita Sebayang, Chairperson of HIPMI Culinary Indonesia (HCI).

Aside from presenting HCI’s vision, the meeting also served as clear evidence that the government, through the Ministry of Creative Economy, is actively involved in supporting the culinary sector from upstream to downstream.

Cikhita also emphasized that collaboration with the Ministry is essential for advancing Indonesia’s creative economy. She hopes that the proposed programs can soon be implemented and that well-known local IPs can be introduced to global markets to enhance the competitiveness of Indonesia’s halal culinary offerings internationally.
