Jakarta, June 23, 2025 – Minister of Creative Economy Teuku Riefky Harsya welcomed a visit from the French Ambassador to Indonesia, Timor-Leste, and ASEAN, Fabien Penone. The meeting focused on concrete steps toward implementing the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Government of Indonesia and the French Government in the creative economy sector.

“We are committed to putting this partnership into action — both in Indonesia and France — through various creative sub-sectors, including film, animation, games, design, fashion, and crafts,” said Minister Teuku Riefky during the meeting at the Ministry of Creative Economy office in Jakarta on Monday, June 23, 2025.
The MoU was signed by Minister Teuku Riefky and French Minister of Culture Rachida Dati during President Emmanuel Macron’s visit to Indonesia in late May 2025. During the meeting, Ambassador Penone also extended an official invitation for Indonesia to participate in Bastille Day (la Fête Nationale), France’s national celebration held every July 14.
Minister Teuku Riefky also encouraged long-term collaboration through initiatives such as a Creative Talent Exchange, masterclasses, workshops, and exchanges between creative economy players. These efforts are expected to strengthen bilateral relations through cultural and creative industry diplomacy.
Ambassador Penone expressed his appreciation for the initiative and emphasized the importance of sustainable and impactful joint programs.
“We are ready to bring in experts and industry professionals from the private sector to support various training and capacity-building activities. The French market is highly competitive, but Indonesia has great potential and should be confident,” said Ambassador Penone.

The Ministry of Creative Economy believes that this collaboration will foster synergy between the public and private sectors of both nations, embodying the hexahelix approach. The Ministry also hopes the cooperation will boost the development of a globally competitive creative economy ecosystem.
Also present during the meeting were Political Counselor of the French Embassy, Martin Albert; Cultural Counselor and Director of Institut Français Indonesia, Jules Irrmann; Deputy Cultural Cooperation Counselor, IFI, Vincent Degoul; and Cultural Cooperation Attaché, IFI, Charlotte Esnou.
Also present from the Ministry of Creative Economy were the Secretary of the Ministry, Dessy Ruhati; Deputy for Strategic Development of Creative Economy, Cecep Rukendi; Deputy for Cultural and Design Creativity, Yuke Sri Rahayu; Deputy for Digital and Technology Creativity, Muhammad Neil El Himam; Deputy for Media Creativity, Agustini Rahayu; Director for Marketing System and Institutional Relations Development, Radi Manggala; Director for Craft, Neli Yana; and Director for Game, Luat S.P.
