Jakarta, 16 October 2025 – Minister of Creative Economy Teuku Riefky Harsya invited journalists to work together in boosting optimism and promoting the creative economy’s performance achievements—which have exceeded targets—to the public, in order to strengthen Indonesia’s creative economy image on the global stage. The statement was delivered during an audience with the Forum of Tourism and Creative Economy Journalists (Forwaparekraf) at the Ministry of Creative Economy Office, Jakarta, on Thursday, 16 October 2025.
Menteri Ekonomi Kreatif, Teuku Riefky Harsya, menerima audiensi dari Forum Wartawan Pariwisata dan Ekonomi Kreatif (Forwaparekraf) di Kantor Kementerian Ekraf, Jakarta, Kamis, (16/10/2025).
“The growth of the creative economy has surpassed targets across various indicators, from GDP to investment. We need the role of the media to accelerate the dissemination of this positive information so that the public becomes increasingly confident in the national creative economy’s potential,” said the Minister of Creative Economy.
The Minister explained that the creative economy’s growth has shown performance above targets. By the end of 2024, the contribution of the creative economy to GDP reached 5.69 percent, exceeding the 2025 target of 5.54 percent. Exports have reached nearly 50 percent of the USD 26.4 billion target, employment has reached 26.5 million workers—surpassing the 2027 target—while investment has reached approximately IDR 90 trillion, or 70 percent of the 2025 target.
The Minister also highlighted the rapid development of Indonesia’s intellectual property (IP)-based industries, driven by both large companies and young creators. He noted that an IP Creator Association is currently being established by prominent IP creators and has the potential to become a strategic partner for Forwaparekraf in expanding the promotion and exposure of national creative works.

“We see, for example, companies like BumiLangit that have acquired more than 1,200 IPs from local stories such as Gundala and Gatotkaca. At the same time, young creators are now selling designs and characters on platforms such as Canva. Therefore, we encourage collaboration with the IP association to ensure regeneration and media support, so that Indonesia’s IP ecosystem becomes stronger and is able to penetrate global markets,” the Minister stated.
Forwaparekraf originated from the spirit of togetherness among tourism journalists in 1991, when then Minister of Tourism, Posts, and Telecommunications Soesilo Sudarman encouraged the establishment of the Forum of Tourism, Posts, and Telecommunications Journalists (Forwaparpostel) in support of the Visit Indonesia Year program. This initiative marked the birth of a tourism journalism community that has since evolved into Forwaparekraf—a platform for collaboration and advocacy among media, government, and industry players—with more than 100 active members from various media outlets.

“We aspire to involve industry players and the government more closely so that all stakeholders can embrace and collaborate with one another. Through program synergy and continuous communication, we hope Forwaparekraf can serve as a bridge that strengthens the role of media in driving the growth of the creative ecosystem,” said Chairperson of Forwaparekraf, Tiara Maharani Kusuma.
Tiara also invited the government and creative economy stakeholders to work with Forwaparekraf in organizing discussion forums that broaden public understanding of the creative economy’s potential as the new engine of national economic growth. She expressed hope that all 17 creative economy subsectors can be further elaborated and introduced more comprehensively through joint programs with the Ministry of Creative Economy in the future.
