Jakarta, 8 December 2025 — The Ministry of Creative Economy/Creative Economy Agency continues to assist creative talents in advancing within the global creative ecosystem. This time, the Ministry is supporting Indonesian creators through the Business Forum & Networking Session at the 2025 Singapore Comic Con (SGCC).

“Indonesia’s participation in this business forum underscores the readiness of our national creators to penetrate the international Intellectual Property (IP) ecosystem. We encourage Indonesian creators to broaden their networks, understand market trends, and build sustainable negotiations with international partners so that the economic value of our creative industry continues to grow,” said Minister of Creative Economy/Head of the Creative Economy Agency, Teuku Riefky Harsya.
Through the Directorate of Publishing and Photography, the Ministry joined the forum held at the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia (KBRI) in Singapore on 5 December, aiming to open greater synergy opportunities and strengthen creative industry networks, particularly in the comic, animation, and digital sectors. The participation of Indonesian creators in this event is part of a collaboration between the Ministry of Creative Economy, KBRI Singapore, the Jakarta Provincial Tourism and Creative Economy Office, and the Indonesian Comics Association (AKSI). The forum format was designed to bring together IP owners, investors, publishers, and animation studio representatives in one professional discussion space.

Featuring regional and international speakers who discussed global comic industry trends, including expanded adaptations into films, games, and digital content, the forum reaffirmed the government’s commitment to strengthening the expansion of IP-based creative content. Deputy Minister for Media Creativity of the Ministry of Creative Economy, Agustini Rahayu, emphasized that strengthening national creative identity is an essential agenda for advancing the creative economy.
“The creative economy is now in a creation-intensive phase, where intellectual property rooted in culture, knowledge, and technology becomes a source of added value. Young generations are the driving force of innovation, capable of producing sustainable creative products through the optimal use of digital technology,” said Deputy Minister Rahayu.

Meanwhile, Indonesian Ambassador to Singapore, Suryo Pratomo, also expressed his appreciation for the successful organization of the forum.
“KBRI is proud to host this forum, which brings together various creative industry stakeholders. This cross-sector collaboration will open market access and strengthen Indonesia’s cultural diplomacy in Singapore and Southeast Asia,” the Ambassador said.

In addition to the business forum at KBRI Singapore, Indonesia’s participation at SGCC 2025 was also realized through the Indonesia Pavilion on 6–7 December 2025, showcasing around 20 selected comic IPs, including 6 IPs fully facilitated by the Ministry of Creative Economy. The pavilion served as a major showcase for national comic IPs through visual exhibitions, creator sessions with fans, business matching, and the launch of exclusive works and merchandise to strengthen the promotion and global market expansion of Indonesian comics.
At the SGCC 2025 business forum, Indonesia also highlighted several comic IPs with strong fan bases, such as Si Juki, Tahilalats, and Bandits of Batavia. The forum also featured professional comic artists actively involved in international projects, including Brian Tanutama Zunaedy (founder of Komunitas Mangaka Indonesia) and Achmad Ezra Garnida (founder of Beyondtopia), who has collaborated in Marvel Studios productions.

Director of Publishing and Photography at the Ministry of Creative Economy, Iman Santosa, stated that cross-sector collaboration in this forum is a concrete step toward strengthening the professionalism of Indonesia’s comic industry.
“We are optimistic that Indonesian comics possess narrative strength, distinctive characters, and visual aesthetics capable of competing in the international market,” stressed Director Iman.

Through the Ministry’s involvement, the Business Forum & Networking Session serves as a strategic government instrument to reinforce the commercialization and sustainable promotion of Indonesian comic IPs in global markets. The Ministry of Creative Economy reaffirms its commitment to accelerating international cooperation, opening new distribution and licensing channels, and ensuring that national creators receive adequate support in negotiations and investment exploration.
