Jakarta, June 20, 2025 – Minister of Creative Economy Teuku Riefky Harsya discussed the potential of the product design subsector with the Indonesian Industrial Product Designers Alliance (ADPII). Minister Teuku Riefky emphasized the importance of regional product design creativity in fostering innovation and generating local products.

“The potential of product design creativity in Indonesia is not only concentrated in big cities but also spread across various regions. This serves as a driving force to create quality jobs, promote entrepreneurship, and develop the creative industry. From this, we believe that the creative economy will become a new engine for national economic growth,” said Minister Teuku Riefky during an audience held at Autograph Tower, Thamrin Nine, Jakarta, on Friday, June 20, 2025.
ADPII has been an alliance of professionals in product design since 1976 and was officially declared in 2014. It serves as a platform for product designers to realize national self-reliance through Indonesian Product Design. Strengthening its international network, ADPII is also a member of the World Design Organization (WDO).
Minister Teuku Riefky stated that ADPII’s initiatives align with the product design subsector, which is part of the 17 subsectors within the creative economy. To enhance credibility and competitiveness in the creative industry, product designers are also required to obtain competency certification.
“We will support and facilitate product designers to ensure they obtain professional certification. This way, the profession will gain greater recognition in accordance with creative industry standards,” added Minister Teuku Riefky.
Collaboration opportunities between ADPII and the Ministry of Creative Economy are increasingly open in areas such as talent capacity development, the establishment of the Indonesian Product Design Museum, and the strengthening of international networks. ADPII accommodates a wide range of product design professions in Indonesia, from footwear, automotive, and furniture to many others.

“There are many areas where synergy can be achieved, starting from talent development and potential alignment in the creative economy, with product design as one subsector that enhances economic capacity and drives the creative economy across regions. We also envision establishing a product design museum as a legacy of a nation that draws its strength from creativity and design. Moving forward, we can revisit the aspiration for product designers to play a role in shaping lives, thereby improving the quality of life for creative talents in Indonesia,” said Prananda Luffiansyah Malasan, Chairman of ADPII.
Minister Teuku Riefky was accompanied by Director of Architecture and Design Sabar Norma Megawati Panjaitan. The audience was also attended by ADPII Vice Chairman Fryzza Pavitta, Secretary General Raditya Ardianto, Deputy Secretary General Bagina Wisnu, Chairman of the Furniture Design Expertise Forum Handhyanto Hardian, Head of ADPII Partnerships Division Eugenio Hendro, and Chairman of the Footwear Design Expertise Forum Mikhael Romeo.
