Jakarta, June 16, 2025 — Minister of Creative Economy Teuku Riefky Harsya attended the Russia National Day celebration held at the Raffles Hotel, Jakarta. Minister Teuku Riefky sees vast potential for cooperation with Russia in the creative economy sector.

This celebration commemorates a significant moment in Russia’s history — the Declaration of State Sovereignty of the Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic (RSFSR) on June 12, 1990, which marked the starting point in the formation of the modern Russian Federation. On this occasion, Minister Teuku Riefky sought to strengthen bilateral relations and explore cross-sector collaboration opportunities with stakeholders from Russia, as well as representatives of other friendly nations present in Indonesia.
“Russia’s National Day is not only a diplomatic occasion, but also a platform to build bridges for cooperation, especially in the creative economy sector. The Ministry of Creative Economy is ready to collaborate and open avenues for partnerships to enhance the global competitiveness of Indonesia’s creative industries,” said Minister Teuku Riefky on Monday, June 16, 2025.

According to data from the Institute of Statistical Studies and Economics of Knowledge of the National Research University Higher School of Economics (ISSEK NRU HSE), in 2019, there were around 4.9 million creative players in Russia — equivalent to 6.8% of the total workforce — spread across the fashion, music, performing arts, and publishing subsectors. Furthermore, Russia ranked among the world’s top 20 largest film industries in 2024, according to a report by the World Intellectual Property Organization.
At the same event, Sergei Gennadievich Tolchenov, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Indonesia, noted that cooperation between Indonesia and Russia has grown across various sectors, expressing his belief that ties between the two nations will continue to deepen.
“We are confident that a strong and sovereign Russia will remain a reliable partner for Indonesia in fostering peace, justice, and sustainable development in the Asia-Pacific region and beyond,” said Ambassador Evgeny Zagaynov, the Russian Federation’s Ambassador to ASEAN.

The event was also attended by Ambassador Evgeny Zagaynov, high-ranking officials from the Russian Federation, Indonesia’s Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono, and representatives from various ministries and institutions of the Kabinet Merah Putih of the Republic of Indonesia. Accompanying Minister Teuku Riefky was Deputy for Strategic Development of Creative Economy, Cecep Rukendi.
Through this diplomatic approach, the Ministry of Creative Economy is confident in positioning the creative economy as the New Engine of Growth, contributing to sustainable national economic recovery and growth.
