Jakarta, April 11, 2025 — Minister of Creative Economy/Head of Creative Economy Teuku Riefky Harsya attended the Inauguration of the Central Executive Board (BPP) of the Indonesian Hotel and Restaurant Association (PHRI) for the 2025–2030 term, held at the Grand Sahid Hotel, Jakarta, on Friday, April 11, 2025.
Menekraf Teuku Riefky Harsya hadiri pengukuhan pengurus PHRI periode 2025–2030 di Hotel Grand Sahid, Jumat (11/04/2025).
In his remarks, Minister Teuku Riefky expressed his appreciation and gratitude for the invitation, calling PHRI both a part of the ministry’s extended family and a strategic partner in strengthening Indonesia’s creative economy ecosystem.
“PHRI is a strategic partner for the Ministry because we understand that the creative economy value chain is closely interconnected with PHRI’s members. We signed a memorandum of understanding on February 11, and we are ready to implement this collaboration despite the challenges we face,” said Minister Teuku Riefky.
He also addressed the challenges currently faced by the sector, including efficiency pressures and global geopolitical tensions, which impact multiple industries, including hospitality and food service. He emphasized that Ministry of Creative Economy remains committed to collaborating with PHRI and other stakeholders.
“Global geopolitical dynamics force us to adapt. Nevertheless, we continue to advocate for the importance of the creative economy to local governments, including through our presentation before 514 newly elected regional leaders at the Military Academy in Malang recently. The goal is to help local leaders understand the creative economy as a new engine for regional growth and to encourage concrete problem-solving efforts,” he added.

PHRI Chairman Hariyadi B. S. Sukamdani expressed his appreciation for the minister’s presence and acknowledged the serious challenges facing the hospitality industry, particularly the significant decline in sales across many regions.
“The government market, which has contributed around 40 percent of revenue in this sector, has proven insufficient. We encourage business owners to explore new markets and strengthen collaboration between the association and the government,” said Hariyadi.
He further noted that, according to data from Statistics Indonesia (BPS), there are approximately 800,000 hotel rooms across the country, with a 50:50 ratio between starred and non-starred hotels. Meeting facilities, he added, also represent untapped potential for the industry.
“This industry has the capacity to create real and measurable employment opportunities,” Hariyadi stressed.
Minister Riefky was accompanied by Deputy for Creative Economy Strategic Development Cecep Rukendi, Director of Marketing System and Institutional Relations Development Radi Manggala, and Director of Culinary Development Andi Ruswar.
