Surabaya, August 4, 2025 – Minister of Creative Economy, Teuku Riefky Harsya, expressed his appreciation for the Gallery of Research and Technological Innovation (GRIT) located at Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS), Surabaya. GRIT is a permanent exhibition gallery that showcases a wide range of research and innovation products created by ITS lecturers and students, including operational prototypes, models, and virtual reality projects.

“The creative economy must start from the regions, and this is part of the President’s vision as outlined in Asta Cita to create quality employment through the creative industry,” said Minister of Creative Economy Teuku Riefky during his visit to GRIT at ITS Surabaya on Monday, August 4, 2025.
The gallery serves not only as an exhibition space but also as a source of inspiration and a learning hub for students across Indonesia. Minister Teuku Riefky also had the opportunity to view various creative works from multiple creative economy sectors, including game development, publishing, architecture, and visual arts.
Minister Teuku Riefky expressed his strong belief that the creative economy represents a new engine capable of boosting national economic growth. He further emphasized that the creative industry goes beyond simply creating employment opportunities.
“The creative industry must be able to create quality job opportunities that deliver added and sustainable value. We will collaborate with ITS to curate and accelerate innovative works that are ready for commercialization,” added Minister Teuku Riefky.

The Minister also expressed hope that innovative products that have gone through the incubation stage could be promoted, strengthened, and marketed not only nationally but also globally. He further stressed the importance of collaboration between the government, academia, the business sector, and financial institutions through a hexahelix approach.
“Many creative players have great potential but lack physical assets to use as collateral. This is the challenge we must overcome, and we are ready to support them through creative financing, promotion, and network expansion,” said Minister Teuku Riefky, reaffirming his commitment to helping creative products become part of an independent and sustainable creative industry.

Rector of ITS, Bambang Pramujati, welcomed the Minister’s initiative to support research and innovation in higher education institutions. He added that ITS continues to strengthen partnerships with industry and government to create a productive innovation ecosystem.
“At ITS, we have eight faculties, one of which is the Faculty of Creative Design and Digital Business, which focuses on research and innovation. We are expanding our facilities and equipment to support industrial prototype development,” said Bambang.
“We hope this collaboration will result in high-quality products that not only benefit the industrial world but also society at large,” he added.

The visit was also attended by ITS Vice Rectors and structural officials, as well as Deputy Minister for Strategic Creative Economy Development, Cecep Rukendi, and Expert Staff for Research, Education, and Institutional Relations, Dian Permanasari. Minister Teuku Riefky emphasized that to achieve equitable development and a more tangible sense of independence, the creative economy must begin in the regions, with full support for innovations emerging from universities and local communities.
