Jakarta, 2 October 2025 — The Ministry of Creative Economy, in collaboration with Garena Indonesia, officially launched a cross-subsector collaboration for the Free Fire World Series (FFWS) Global Finals 2025 at a press conference in the Gold Ballroom, Thamrin Nine Complex, Jakarta. The event will take place from 31 October to 15 November 2025 at Indonesia Arena. As host, Indonesia will showcase a wide range of creative products including batik, electronic music, visual arts, and digital comics, demonstrating the Ministry of Creative Economy capacity to create innovations that resonate with a global audience.
Minister of Creative Economy, Teuku Riefky Harsya, together with Deputy Minister of Creative Economy, Irene Umar, attended the Free Fire World Series (FFWS) Global Finals 2025 at the Gold Ballroom, Thamrin Nine, Jakarta, on Thursday (October 2, 2025).
Minister of Creative Economy Teuku Riefky Harsya emphasized that the gaming industry is a key subsector serving as the new engine of growth for the national economy.
“The gaming industry not only provides entertainment but also creates quality jobs and new business opportunities. More importantly, this ecosystem is driven by young people, who are the key to Indonesia’s competitiveness in the digital era,” said Minister of Creative Economy Teuku Riefky.
He added that the support from various collaborators highlights the strength of Indonesia’s creative ecosystem. Weird Genius contributes through music, Muklay through visual arts, Tahilalats through digital comics, and Guru Batik presents Nusantara motifs, all blending Indonesian identity with styles that resonate globally.

“Hexahelix collaboration—linking businesses, creators, academics, communities, media, and government—is key to accelerating the emergence of local talent and creations that can compete globally. The Ministry of Creative Economy highly appreciates the support from Garena Indonesia and all participating creators. This event demonstrates how the creative ecosystem can generate new economic opportunities while elevating Indonesia’s global profile,” said Minister of Creative Economy Teuku Riefky.
This statement also encourages the industry to continue developing creative and innovative collaborations. The Ministry of Creative Economy hopes more game publishers will partner with the local gaming ecosystem and Indonesian creative players, as Garena Indonesia has done, in an inclusive and sustainable business model.
Deputy Minister of Creative Economy Irene Umar noted that the tournament is not just an e-sports competition, but also a showcase of Indonesia’s creative innovation.

“Free Fire is one of the largest e-sports communities in the world. By involving visual artists, musicians, comic creators, and batik artisans, we prove that local creations can reach global markets. Indonesia is not only hosting a global e-sports tournament, but also presenting a stage for local IPs and creative products,” Irene explained.
Country Head of Garena Indonesia, Hans Saleh, expressed appreciation to Ekraf and creative collaborators.
“Indonesia hosting FFWS 2025 is not only about showcasing e-sports but also demonstrating how creative products can reach the global stage. The combination of e-sports and arts opens new opportunities while celebrating diverse ideas. This collaboration is made possible thanks to the full support of the Ministry of Creative Economy,” Hans said.
Guru Batik representative Dheni Nugroho highlighted the historic significance of batik’s involvement in Free Fire.
“This is the first time batik collaborates with a game. We chose Glompol (togetherness) and Nitik (diligence) motifs, rich in meaning, hoping batik becomes closer to younger generations. Batik is not old-fashioned; it can appear stylish and relevant on a global stage. These merchandise items are possible only because the tournament is held in Indonesia,” he explained.
