Minister of Creative Economy Meets Ndarboy and Visits Animation Studio in Yogyakarta, Supports Strengthening Regional Creative Industries

Yogyakarta, 4 January 2026 – The Minister of Creative Economy / Head of the Creative Economy Agency, Teuku Riefky Harsya, met with local musician Ndarboy Genk and visited MSV Pictures Animation Studio at Universitas AMIKOM Yogyakarta. Minister of Creative Economy Teuku Riefky Harsya stated that the diversity of these subsectors represents valuable creative economy assets of Yogyakarta.

“What exists in Yogyakarta is something that must be supported as a national asset and a source of pride for Indonesia. The Ministry of Creative Economy is ready to carry out commercialization for Yogyakarta’s creative economy practitioners who have already excelled in education, storytelling, and monetization,” said Minister of Creative Economy Teuku Riefky Harsya on Sunday, 4 January 2025.

During the Christmas and New Year (Nataru) holiday period, the Minister of Creative Economy has visited creative economy activities in several cities, including Jakarta, Tangerang, Bandung, and Solo. In Yogyakarta, a comprehensive creative economy package based on culture, history, culinary arts, shopping tourism, and distinctive local wisdom traditions presents a unique attraction.

Through a meeting with Ndarboy Genk, who has collaborated in the Music Creative Acceleration Program of the Ministry of Creative Economy, the music subsector continues to be encouraged in the production of music videos, the organization of concerts in several countries, and the sustainable empowerment of local talent.

“I would like to express my gratitude to the entire team of the Ministry of Creative Economy for supporting me as a local musician to have opportunities to create not only in Suriname, but also to collaborate with visually impaired artists. I hope the Ministry of Creative Economy can serve as a bridge to reconnect with the Mabes Balker Community and other communities to continue monetizing works and contributing to Indonesia’s creative economy,” added Ndarboy.

Continuing to MSV Pictures Animation Studio at AMIKOM Yogyakarta, Minister of Creative Economy Teuku Riefky Harsya highlighted the role of the film, animation, and video subsector in national economic growth and the creation of quality employment. According to the Minister, the early-year holiday period can be utilized to reorganize efforts so that the Ministry of Creative Economy can propose incentive schemes for the film, animation, video, game, and application subsectors, thereby opening wider investment opportunities in 2026.

“We believe that 2026 can become a year of revival for animation and the creative industry in Indonesia, making the creative economy a new engine of national economic growth starting from the regions. In addition, strengthening the creative economy ecosystem must be carried out in an integrated manner through hexahelix collaboration, where universities can serve as important spaces in preparing creative talents,” emphasized Minister of Creative Economy Teuku Riefky Harsya.

The success of Universitas AMIKOM Yogyakarta in producing entrepreneurs and local creative economy practitioners has proven its ability to develop a higher-education-based creative economy ecosystem that positions the creative economy at the center of education, research, and entrepreneurship.

“In building a creative ecosystem, AMIKOM Yogyakarta not only produces professional graduates, but also encourages the emergence of entrepreneurs and creative content creators based on the creative economy who are widely recognized. We consistently position the film, animation, and video subsector as a locomotive with global impact,” said Rector of Universitas AMIKOM Yogyakarta Muhammad Suyanto.
