Malang, 7 November 2025 — Minister of Creative Economy/Head of the Creative Economy Agency, Teuku Riefky Harsya, reaffirmed the government’s commitment to positioning regions as the driving force of the national creative economy during his visit to Produk Lokal Fest #7, part of the Indonesia Creative Cities Festival (ICCF) 2025 in Batu City, East Java. The visit strengthens Batu City’s standing as a priority creative city in a province that ranked among the top five in Indonesia, with creative economy export value reaching USD 3.4 billion in the first semester of 2025.

The Minister emphasized that Batu City offers not only natural landscapes and gastronomy, but also strong creative cultural roots that continue to shape the character and resilience of its community.
“East Java is among the 15 provinces prioritized by the President for creative economy development. We are proud of the collaborative spirit that has unlocked the potential of all 17 creative economy subsectors in Batu City—especially leading sectors such as music, culinary, fashion, film, and various agribased creative innovations. Batu City is not only producing creative talents but also demonstrating how the creative economy creates jobs and improves community welfare,” said the Minister.
According to Statistics Indonesia (BPS), East Java ranks among the top five provinces with the highest creative industry investment and export value in the country. Investment increased from IDR 6.08 trillion to IDR 6.86 trillion, while creative economy exports reached USD 3.4 billion in the first half of 2025. The Ministry continues to strengthen regional creative ecosystems and expand access to domestic and international markets.

“I am grateful that ICCN continues to champion the development of regions with strong creative potential. Our presence here is part of ensuring that Intellectual Property (IP) and creative assets are connected to the readiness of increasingly competitive creative talents. Let us elevate Indonesia’s creative economy, starting from Batu City,” the Minister added.
Produk Lokal Fest #7 was held with the theme “Egalitarian,” symbolizing togetherness, mutual support, and shared responsibility in advancing the nation through community-driven creative initiatives. Beyond music performances, the event also featured exhibitions of all 17 creative economy subsectors, a local food festival, gastronomy area, community meet-ups, the launch of Batu Total Independent’s (BTI) second compilation album, and various other creative showcases.
Mayor of Batu City, Nurochman, affirmed the city's commitment to strengthening its creative economy ecosystem.
“Batu City is committed to developing our creative ecosystem through MSME support, digital business incubation, sustainable cultural festivals, and the development of thematic tourism destinations based on local wisdom and green technology. We are ready to support national events held in Batu City by showcasing the potential of our creative youth. Produk Lokal Fest #7 reflects the spirit of creativity and collaboration,” he said.

The event began with a communal dinner and a traditional ceremonial cutting of tumpeng ageng sae nusantaraya, symbolizing gratitude and unity within a festival that celebrates ideas, innovation, and intercity, intercultural, and intergenerational diversity.
“Thank you to the Ministry of Creative Economy for inspiring us to strengthen creative city networks across Indonesia. Produk Lokal Fest #7 provides a space for young creators in music, culinary arts, and digital art to express themselves. They show that creativity is more than entertainment—it is a new economic force supporting the livelihoods of people in Batu City and beyond,” Nurochman added.
ICCN 2025 carries the theme “Nusantaraya,” reflecting a nationwide network of creative cities that collaborate, learn from one another, and grow together toward a sustainable creative future. The festival highlights innovation across Batu City and Greater Malang—creativity that holds the potential to be showcased across Indonesia and even globally, becoming a source of pride and motivation for regional development.
