IKAPI is the only professional association for publishers in Indonesia that represents book publishers from across the country. Currently, the publishing industry is facing major challenges, including the perception that its role is limited to merely printing books. In reality, the industry also contributes significantly to the creation of Intellectual Property (IP), which is utilized across 17 creative economy subsectors under the Ministry of Creative Economy.
During the meeting, Minister of Creative Economy Riefky emphasized the ministry’s commitment to collaborating with IKAPI to develop a stronger publishing industry ecosystem.

He further stated that the Ministry of Creative Economy is committed to addressing key issues in this sector, such as improving reading interest, royalty policies, and combating piracy. To achieve this, the ministry plans to develop a roadmap and Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with IKAPI to formulate concrete solutions.
"We will draft a roadmap and MoU with IKAPI to tackle challenges in the publishing industry, including enhancing public reading interest and addressing issues related to royalty policies and piracy," he added.
