Jakarta, 11 August 2025 – Minister of Creative Economy, Teuku Riefky Harsya, received an audience from Pop Mart International Group at the Ministry of Creative Economy office in Jakarta. The meeting discussed potential collaboration in the activation and distribution of local intellectual property (IP) across various strategic sectors.

The Minister underscored that Indonesia is entering a pivotal phase in developing the creative economy as a new engine of national economic growth.
“Pop Mart’s plan to bring iconic IP experience projects to Indonesia aligns with the ministry’s strategy to build an IP-based ecosystem. This is in line with our cultural potential, local values, and the strength of our creative economy,” said Teuku Riefky.
To expand the reach of Indonesia’s creative industry to global markets, innovation and strategic partnerships are essential—particularly with partners who have a deep understanding of global markets, development, and IP commercialization. The Minister also noted opportunities for strategic collaboration with Pop Mart Global to strengthen Indonesia’s creative economy competitiveness on the international stage.

“Potential collaborations may be carried out in three key areas: IP experience projects in Indonesia, long-term development of IP-based creative economy sectors, and other initiatives such as business matching and opportunities to feature Indonesian IP in Pop Mart products,” he said. He expressed hope that this collaboration will open new markets while providing space for local IP creators to showcase and grow their work.
Eva Zhao, Marketing Director of Pop Mart International Group, stated that Pop Mart currently operates more than 500 stores in over 30 countries and regions, 2,300 roboshops, and has 50 million members worldwide.
With contributions from artists around the world, Pop Mart has produced several popular IPs including Molly, Dimoo, Hirono, Skullpanda, and Labubu. Beyond collectible toys, Pop Mart has also expanded into jewelry, the Pop Land theme park, Pop Toy Show exhibitions, and themed cafés in Bangkok. The company targets opening 54 stores in Indonesia by the end of 2025.

Head of Marketing Pop Mart International Group, Ivy Wang, added that the company is highly open to collaborating with local creators. “We are very interested in Indonesia’s local culture, which we hope to integrate into Pop Mart’s future strategies,” she said. This interest is expected to open avenues for Indonesian creative works to reach the global market.
Through this initiative, the government aims to ensure that the development of the creative economy is evenly distributed across all regions. The audience was also attended by Co-Founder & CEO of Genexyz Belinda Luis, CEO of Future Creative Network Ivan Hadiwibowo, Co-Founder of Future Creative Network Benz Budiman, Special Staff to the Minister Rian Syaf, Director of IP Development and Facilitation Muhammad Fauzy, Minister’s Expert Staff Gemintang K. M., and officials from the Ministry.
