Jakarta, 2 April, 2026 – The Ministry of Creative Economy / Creative Economy Agency (Ekraf) continues to strengthen mitigation and protection efforts for creative economy practitioners. This was emphasized by the Minister of Creative Economy / Head of the Creative Economy Agency, Teuku Riefky Harsya, during a visit from videographer from Karo Regency, Amsal Christy Sitepu, at the Ministry’s office on Thursday (April 2).
Minister of Creative Economy, Teuku Riefky Harsya, received a visit from videographer from Karo Regency, Amsal Christy Sitepu, at the Ministry of Creative Economy office in Jakarta on Thursday (April 2, 2026).
The meeting forms part of the Ministry’s efforts to open a space for dialogue and to gather input from creative economy practitioners, in order to ensure that legal issues experienced by Amsal do not recur in the future.
The Minister emphasized that input from creative practitioners is a crucial element in strengthening the ecosystem while ensuring better protection for those engaged in the creative economy.
“The Ministry of Creative Economy is currently drafting guidelines that will be disseminated to law enforcement agencies, auditors, the Ministry of Home Affairs, and the Ministry of Finance, particularly in relation to creative services, which may serve as a reference. We are also consulting with the Ministry of Law to determine whether these guidelines should be issued as a Ministerial Decree, a Ministerial Regulation, or incorporated into a Ministry of Finance Regulation, so that regional governments can better understand the framework for engaging creative economy practitioners,” explained the Minister.

The presence of Amsal reflects the Ministry’s commitment to responding to creative economy practitioners in the regions, recognizing that the development of Indonesia’s creative industry is closely tied to their contributions. This is expected to further strengthen the creative economy ecosystem in the regions and elevate it to the international level.
“And the creative industry is not limited to major cities, as much of its growth is actually occurring in the regions. This is made possible by all of us. The government cannot work alone—there must be collaboration among ministries, regional governments, associations, key figures, and creative practitioners to continuously strengthen and expand Indonesia’s creative industry,” the Minister stated.
Meanwhile, Amsal Sitepu expressed appreciation for the Ministry’s initiative in opening a platform for dialogue with creative economy practitioners. He noted that Indonesia’s creative economy is growing rapidly, and that current challenges should not become a source of concern for practitioners, especially as the Ministry provides information services that can be utilized.

“I would also like to encourage fellow creative economy workers across Indonesia to be more proactive—not only focusing on their work, but also exploring and utilizing available services, such as those provided by the Ministry of Creative Economy. We should not view this process as a problem, but as an evaluation to ensure that our creative economy continues to grow. I believe this is a momentum, and moving forward, young people will no longer be afraid to create,” said Amsal.
Previously, Amsal Sitepu, a creative economy practitioner from Karo Regency, was acquitted by the Medan District Court in a case related to the production of a village profile video in the region.
The Ministry of Creative Economy remains committed to delivering public services that are transparent, accountable, and responsive. Creative economy practitioners are encouraged to utilize the facilities provided as part of mitigation efforts against potential risks in creative work practices.
