Cologne, 20 August 2025 – Minister of Creative Economy Teuku Riefky Harsya attended Gamescom 2025 in Cologne, Germany. Indonesia’s presence at this event marks a strategic step in strengthening the national game ecosystem while expanding access to global markets.

“This momentum must be utilized to strengthen the foundation of a competitive, inclusive, and sustainable national game industry,” stated Minister of Creative Economy Teuku Riefky on Wednesday, 20 August 2025.
Minister of Creative Economy Teuku Riefky expressed appreciation to industry players who have collaborated with the government. According to him, participation in Gamescom 2025 opens major opportunities for establishing international networks, expanding export markets, and attracting investment.
Minister of Creative Economy Teuku Riefky further highlighted that the national gaming industry continues to show positive growth. Currently, Indonesia has more than 150 million active gamers, the majority of whom play on mobile platforms. The industry also employs more than 180 thousand workers, with a market value reaching Rp 30 trillion or approximately 1.9 billion US dollars in 2024.

“These figures position Indonesia as the largest gaming market in Southeast Asia and the 15th largest in the world,” said Minister of Creative Economy Teuku Riefky.

The Ministry of Creative Economy reaffirms its commitment to continuing the strengthening of the national game ecosystem, including through policies and regulations supportive of industry players. Minister of Creative Economy Teuku Riefky emphasized that policy development must be data-driven to ensure that industry growth is accurately targeted.
“Therefore, we hope that industry representatives can convey business meeting outcomes and strategic recommendations. These data and insights will serve as a foundation for the government in formulating policies that are more responsive and supportive of national game industry development,” Minister of Creative Economy Teuku Riefky concluded.

On the same occasion, Minister of Creative Economy Teuku Riefky also invited German game companies to participate in the Indonesia Game Developer eXchange (IGDX) to be held in Bali on 9–11 October 2025. This event is expected to serve as a platform for strategic collaboration while introducing the potential of Indonesia’s game ecosystem to the world.
Also in attendance were German Minister of Science, Technology, and Space, Dorothee Bär; Chargé d’Affaires Ad Interim of the Indonesian Embassy in Berlin, Fajar Wirawan Harijo; and Acting Consul General of Frankfurt, Toary Ceacer Fransiskus Worang. Minister of Creative Economy Teuku Riefky was accompanied by Special Advisor to the Minister for Strategic Issues and Inter-Institutional Affairs, Rian Firmansyah, and Director of Games, Luat Sihombing.
