Minister of Creative Economy Supports Expanded Financing Access for Film, Animation, and Game Practitioners

Jakarta, 30 September 2025 – The Ministry of Creative Economy continuously facilitates creative economy actors to showcase business potential while providing opportunities for financial institutions and strategic partners to explore collaboration directly, quickly, and effectively, particularly in the film, animation, and gaming subsectors. Minister of Creative Economy, Teuku Riefky Harsya, provided guidance to foster mutual understanding between financial institutions and creative economy actors to expand access to financing and investment.

Menteri Ekonomi Kreatif, Teuku Riefky Harsya, memberi sambutan pada acara Aspek Bisnis dan Pembiayaan Subsektor Film, Animasi dan Gim serta Business Matching di Gd. Film Pesona Indonesia, Jakarta, Selasa (30/09/2025).

“We hope today’s activities can facilitate improved access to financing and investment for the film, animation, and gaming subsectors. We also invite financial institutions to recognize the business potential of these subsectors, particularly in Intellectual Property (IP), whose revenue is not only from films but can also generate derivative creative products such as merchandise, novels, and intersections with 17 other profitable creative subsectors,” said Minister of Creative Economy Teuku Riefky at the Film Pesona Indonesia Building, Jakarta, on Tuesday, 30 September 2025.

Minister of Creative Economy Teuku Riefky highlighted the economic potential of IP in film, animation, and gaming, noting its impact on national economic contribution. This aligns with the Ministry of Ekraf’s Key Performance Indicators (KPI), related to GDP contribution, export value, employment, and investment.

“The Indonesian film industry is currently experiencing rapid growth with strong momentum. Cinema screens are projected to grow at a 6.13% compound annual growth rate (CAGR) until 2027. There are currently more than 185 animation studios across cities like Jakarta, Tangerang, Batam, Malang, Yogyakarta, and others, employing around 7,700 workers. The gaming industry is no longer just entertainment but also a driver of the global economy, contributing IDR 30 trillion to the Indonesian market in 2024, with 148 million active Indonesian gamers,” explained Minister of Creative Economy Teuku Riefky.

The purpose of this initiative is to encourage collaboration between domestic financial institutions and growing creative subsectors for mutually beneficial partnerships. Financial institutions need to understand the characteristics and business models of each creative subsector, while practitioners must understand institutional requirements and procedures.

“Today, we also invited representatives from financial institutions such as OJK and banks so that creative industry actors can understand regulations, while institutions gain insight into business aspects of film, animation, and gaming subsectors. Financial institutions will play a crucial role in financing schemes, providing fixed asset guarantees according to project contexts, and fostering collaboration,” said Special Staff for Funding and Financing of the Ministry of Creative Economy, Restog Krisna Kusuma.

To build this synergy, the event continued with business matching and interactive panel discussions across three sessions:

  1. Film Subsector–Speakers: Celerina Judisari (Film Believe) and Mia Angelia Santosa (Chief of Staff, Visinema). Moderator: Agustini Rahayu, Deputy for Media Creativity.

  2. Animation Subsector–Speakers: Roy Tok (CEO, RUS Animation Studio) and Bismarka Kurniawan (CEO, BumiLangit Entertainment). Moderator: Anggara Hayun Anujuprana, Director of Funding Access, Finance, and Investment Development.
