Jakarta, June 20, 2025 — Minister of Creative Economy, Teuku Riefky Harsya, expressed his full support for strengthening Indonesia’s halal ecosystem through the 2025 Indonesia International Halal Festival (IIHF), held at the Plenary Hall of the Jakarta International Convention Center on Friday, June 20, 2025. Halal certification was the central focus of the event, playing a key role in driving the international expansion of Indonesian culinary products.

“We see Indonesia’s creative industries growing rapidly, and many of their aspects intersect with halal-related issues, especially in the culinary subsector. Halal certification presents a strategic opportunity for businesses to expand their reach,” said Minister Teuku Riefky, following the opening ceremony of IIHF.
The Minister emphasized that halal certification is not only a matter of religious compliance, but also relates to health and lifestyle. He noted that many creative industry players have the potential to enter global markets through Indonesia’s halal certification, which is already recognized internationally for its credibility.
“There are numerous success stories of restaurants, both in Indonesia and abroad, that have grown in popularity because of halal certification. However, various challenges remain. That’s why we are ready to collaborate with halal institutions as part of our ongoing support,” he added.
The Indonesia International Halal Festival (IIHF) is an international exhibition initiated by the Halal Product Assurance Organizing Agency (Badan Penyelenggara Jaminan Produk Halal/BPJPH) to strengthen the national halal ecosystem. The festival features a range of activities, including talk shows with the Halal Indonesia Forum, halal expos and bazaars, halal certification workshops, fashion shows, and Islamic lectures by Ustaz Dennis Lim and Ustaz Hilman Fauzi.
The IIHF opening ceremony was attended by ambassadors from various countries, who also witnessed and participated in the signing of cooperation agreements between Indonesia and halal certification bodies from multiple nations, including South Korea, Australia, Belgium, Turkey, and others.

Head of BPJPH, Haikal Hassan, reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to gaining global recognition for Indonesian halal certification through cross-country collaboration, as part of an effort to establish Halal Indonesia as a standard for the global community.
“Today, over 400 tenants have gathered, and we are signing cooperation agreements with 26 countries. We are fully supporting Halal Indonesia to reach the international stage. Our vision is for Halal Indonesia to serve the global society, Halal Indonesia for the Community of the World,” said Haikal Hassan.
In addition to attending the symbolic opening ceremony, Minister Teuku Riefky also visited several local and international culinary booths participating in IIHF 2025.
