Minister of Creative Economy, Teuku Riefky Harsya, received representatives of Ruang Film Pacitan at the Ministry of Creative Economy office in Jakarta on Tuesday (June 23, 2026).
The Minister highlighted FFH’s strong potential to grow not only as Indonesia’s first horror-themed film festival but also as a talent incubation platform and a driver of the creative economy. According to him, Indonesia’s rich cultural diversity and vast collection of folklore provide valuable inspiration with significant economic potential for the national film industry.
“Indonesia’s cultural diversity and unique horror stories represent a new goldmine of creative potential. The Ministry of Creative Economy is ready to collaborate with relevant stakeholders and government partners to help elevate FFH and establish it as a benchmark for thematic film festivals in Indonesia,” said Minister Teuku Riefky Harsya.
The festival’s potential was evident in its inaugural edition in 2025, which attracted 285 film submissions across three categories: general, student, and exhibition. FFH also stands out due to its unique setting along the coastal area of Pancer Door Beach and several strategic locations throughout Pacitan. This distinctive concept strengthens the festival’s identity and differentiates it from other film festivals in Indonesia.
This year, FFH 2026 carries the theme: “INDIGO: Seeing the Unseen. Reading the Forgotten. Building the Future.” The festival will run from June to September 2026, with the main awards event scheduled for September 9–12, 2026.

Pacitan Regent Indrata Nur Bayuaji noted that FFH has already delivered positive impacts on the region, both economically and through the growth of other creative activities. He emphasized that the festival serves not only as a competition platform but also as a gathering space for filmmakers and the wider community.
“FFH has attracted complementary events and contributed to increased tourism in Pacitan. We hope FFH 2026 can collaborate closely with the Ministry of Creative Economy and continue growing into a festival recognized at the provincial, national, and even global levels,” said Indrata.
The meeting was also attended by Muniirul Ichwan, Head of the Pacitan Regency Office of Tourism, Culture, Youth, and Sports; Idham Nugrahadi, Festival Director of FFH; and representatives of Ruang Film Pacitan. The Minister was accompanied by Cecep Rukendi, Deputy for Media Creativity, and Doni Setiawan, Director of Film, Animation, and Video.
