“The philosophy within Asta Cita (the visions outlined by President Prabowo on how the creative economy can become the new engine of growth for the national economy, starting from the regions. Strengthening the creative economy ecosystem can be achieved through a hexahelix approach involving the government, academia, financial institutions, media, communities or associations, and businesses. This collaboration must create added value from intellectual property rooted in cultural heritage, enhanced by knowledge, technology, innovation, and digitalization—elements that form the essence of the creative economy,” said the Minister.

Gorontalo consists of 5 regencies, 1 city, and 77 districts. Several creative economy potentials can be further developed, such as the region’s distinctive Karawo embroidery, the traditional kopiah (cap) known as Kopiah Karanji, Gorontalo coffee, creative villages, and two major events—Gorontalo Karawo Carnival (GKK) and Hulonthalo Art & Craft Festival (HACF).

“This creativity is an asset that can bring prosperity to people from all walks of life. We can strengthen the competitiveness of creative economy products brought from Gorontalo. We are also ready to push local products from Gorontalo into the global supply chain, provided there is institutional strengthening of the creative economy from the central to the regional level,” the Minister added.

The Ministry of Creative Economy had previously signed a Joint Decree with the Ministry of Home Affairs on guidelines for establishing Regional Creative Economy Offices. To date, 19 provinces are in the process of establishing such institutions.

Governor Gusnar Ismail stressed the need for a solid creative economy ecosystem to create job opportunities. He noted that many young people may not appear to be formally employed but still earn income. He believes this ecosystem must be developed from the regions by forming a Creative Economy Office.

“With an independent or combined Creative Economy Office, we are confident we can develop and manage Gorontalo’s creative economy potentials,” said Governor Gusnar.

Head of Bank Indonesia Representative Office in Gorontalo, Bambang Satya Permana, expressed hope that the meeting would lead to collaborative initiatives for creative events such as the Gorontalo Karawo Carnival (GKK) and the Hulonthalo Art & Craft Festival (HACF), which will be held on September 6–9, 2025, at the Grand Palace Convention Center, Gorontalo.
