Jakarta, 8 January 2026 – The Minister of Creative Economy / Head of the Creative Economy Agency, Teuku Riefky Harsya, expressed readiness to support Jakarta Fashion Week (JFW) 2027. Jakarta Fashion Week continues to move forward as a creative economy movement that celebrates innovation, diversity, and the evolution of style.
The Minister of Creative Economy, Teuku Riefky Harsya, received an audience with the Chairwoman of Jakarta Fashion Week (JFW), Svida Alisjahbana, at the Office of the Ministry of Creative Economy, Jakarta, Thursday (8/1/2026).
“The most important aspect of a fashion festival is its impact on local designers and the export markets that can be developed to other countries. Moreover, the Ministry of Creative Economy already has the Indonesian Creative Export Acceleration Program (ASIK) to ensure that the fashion subsector is ready to move up to the next level,” said Minister of Creative Economy Teuku Riefky Harsya during the audience with JFW Chairwoman Svida Alisjahbana at the Office of the Ministry of Creative Economy, Jakarta, Thursday, 8 January 2026.
Jakarta Fashion Week connects the designer ecosystem with international events while elevating Indonesian wastra to the global stage. The audience also discussed recent developments, achievements from the previous year, and strategic collaboration plans for JFW 2027 to further advance Indonesia’s fashion industry globally.

“We are ready to revive collaborations, for instance with the Ministry of Trade and the Provincial Government of DKI Jakarta, which certainly have networks and potential sponsors that can strengthen the development of the fashion subsector through JFW initiatives on a sustainable basis,” added Minister of Creative Economy Teuku Riefky Harsya.
The presence of the Ministry of Creative Economy / Creative Economy Agency at the peak of JFW 2026 in November last year became a strong momentum for fostering cross-country collaboration within ASEAN. Support from various ministries enabled JFW to increase awareness and participation across the fashion ecosystem, resulting in 619 publications over eight days of national and international media coverage.

As part of program innovation to position Jakarta as a fashion barometer of Southeast Asia, talent development will also be carried out through the Jakarta Fashion Force Academy. In addition, sustained participation in international exhibitions such as Tranoï and Première Vision Paris, as well as Riyadh Fashion Week, is expected to build global bridges for strategic partnerships.
“JFW is the official partner of Tranoï Paris and Riyadh Fashion Week. One can imagine that when Indonesia participates, it will receive a dedicated pavilion. With the support of the Ministry of Creative Economy, we hope to obtain striking scenography or interior design that draws attention at these international events. JFW will strictly curate designers who are truly ready to go global and possess strong capacity and collections, so they can become a topic of conversation and attract orders from international buyers,” said Svida Alisjahbana.

Furthermore, Svida Alisjahbana expressed confidence that the Ministry of Creative Economy / Creative Economy Agency can help fashion subsector players move up the value chain, particularly in elevating Indonesian wastra to global markets. With targets focused on quality improvement, branding, and international market penetration, collaboration is essential to nurture Indonesian fashion designers into global players.
“If we look at it, the upstream of the fashion industry is wastra. Elevating Indonesian wastra to the global stage presents its own challenges, requiring curation, renewal, and marketing to be accepted by international fashion houses. In this way, we will see it as the success of a fashion ecosystem that advances together,” added Svida Alisjahbana, who was accompanied by Partnership Manager of PT Chandra Sakti, Irsyad Izzeddin.
