Jakarta, April 10, 2025 – Minister of Creative Economy, Teuku Riefky Harsya, expressed his support for brand licensing and intellectual property (IP) facilitation as a means of protecting copyright and trademarks. This was discussed during his meeting with the Chairwoman of the Indonesian Licensing Association (ASENSI), Susanty Widjaya.
"We have been working closely with the Minister of Law and Human Rights to deepen discussions on brand licensing and intellectual property rights," said Minister Riefky during the meeting held at the Pesona Indonesia Film Building, Jakarta, on Thursday, April 10, 2025.
"Licensing is the key to encouraging creative economy players to grow, making local brands more recognized before being overshadowed by foreign brands. Along with that, commercializing intellectual property becomes much easier on a global scale—as long as copyright, trademark, and IP protections are in place," he added.
Minister Riefky also expressed hope for ASENSI’s input in mapping efforts to improve public understanding of intellectual property. He highlighted the Ministry’s 8 Flagship Programs, known as ASTA EKRAF: EKRAF KAYA, EKRAF DATA, PASAR EKRAF, SINERGI EKRAF, TALENTA EKRAF, SENTRA EKRAF, DANA EKRAF, and EKRAF BIJAK, which can be realized through the creative economy value chain to strengthen policy synergy on local brand licensing.
"There’s so much we can work on together, for example, through EKRAF KAYA and EKRAF DATA programs. We are open to collaborating with ASENSI so that more Indonesian brands can secure licenses not just for the domestic market but also for the international stage," said Minister Riefky.

ASENSI, established on April 2, 2018, is the first organization in Indonesia for licensing entrepreneurs, covering partnerships, start-ups, MSMEs, co-branding, business opportunities, and franchises. Its mission is to empower local brands and products as IP holders comprehensively.
"The Ministry of Creative Economy and ASENSI are naturally aligned, and we certainly need strong support for IP protection. Going forward, we can work together to map out the 17 creative economy subsectors and determine funding and commercialization mechanisms for IPs. This will help ensure that local brands and products not only dominate the domestic market but also go global," said Susanty Widjaya.
ASENSI also invited the Ministry to participate in the Indonesia Licensing and Franchise Export (ILFEX) Exhibition, scheduled for October 15–19, 2025, at ICE BSD.
"This year, we will hold ILFEX 2025 alongside the Trade Expo Indonesia (TEI). Don’t miss this moment to support local IP, brand licensing, and franchising under one shared goal, empowering the national licensing industry," Susanty added.
Minister Riefky was accompanied at the meeting by Deputy for Creative Economy Strategic Development, Cecep Rukendi; Director of Marketing System Development and Institutional Relations, Radi Manggala; Director of Access to Funding, Financing, and Investment, Anggara Hayun Anujuprana; and Director of Fashion, Romi Astuti.
