“We must be proud to be Indonesians, always love our homeland, and respect the diversity of our culture. Merajut Nusantara, through the creative economy, must utilize ideas, innovation, and creativity to generate economic value,” said Minister of Creative Economy Teuku Riefky during a meeting with Heru Nugroho, initiator of Merajut Nusantara, at Autograph Tower, Thamrin Nine, Jakarta, on Wednesday, April 30, 2025.
The Merajut Nusantara movement is an initiative to revive the spirit of unity and love for the homeland as a symbol of nationalism. The main objective of this movement is to re-instill the values of nationalism among the public and encourage them to work together in developing their regions.
Through proper collaboration, Minister of Creative Economy Teuku Riefky hopes Merajut Nusantara can create employment opportunities for the younger generation and foster cooperation in the utilization of intellectual property.
“We want the spirit of nationalism to always begin in the regions. In this way, the creative economy as the new engine of national economic growth—starting from the regions—can be realized through this spirit of nationalism,” said Minister of Creative Economy Teuku Riefky.

In line with this, Deputy Minister for Digital Creativity and Technology of the Ministry of Creative Economy Muhammad Neil El Himam also expressed his support for the Merajut Nusantara collaboration, emphasizing that human creativity must become the main foundation of the creative economy. According to Deputy Minister Neil, many aspects of Merajut Nusantara can be further accelerated.
“The creative economy is the convergence of added value derived from human creativity, based on cultural heritage, knowledge, and access to technology,” added Deputy Neil.
Carrying the overarching theme of “Merajut Nusantara,” this program serves as the main umbrella for various cultural initiatives, including the film The Lost Aksara, which reflects the spirit of cultural preservation. Another flagship program currently running is Aksara Nusantara, which encourages the public to revive and use local languages and scripts in daily life. Merajut Nusantara also continues to develop archipelago-themed games highlighting kingdoms from various regions.
“When culture is treated as a resource, creativity can produce something new from that culture. The principle of Merajut Nusantara is collaboration—understanding differences as a unity known as Bhinneka Tunggal Ika. This will continue to grow and be mobilized, creating a sustainable form of creative economy,” said Heru Nugroho, initiator of Merajut Nusantara.
Minister of Creative Economy Teuku Riefky was also accompanied at the meeting by Director of Publishing and Photography Iman Santosa.
