Jakarta, July 8, 2025 – Minister of Creative Economy, Teuku Riefky Harsya, welcomed the plan to establish the Jember Creative Center (JCC) as a hub for creative ecosystem development in East Java. This was conveyed by the Minister of Creative Economy during a meeting with Jember Regent, Muhammad Fawait, at the Ministry of Creative Economy office in Jakarta, Tuesday, July 8, 2025.
Menekraf Teuku Riefky dukung pembentukan Jember Creative Center untuk perkuat ekosistem kreatif, Jakarta, Selasa (8/7/2025).
“We hope that the development of the Jember Creative Center aligns with the strategic direction of the Ministry, particularly in supporting the achievement of key indicators such as export growth, job opportunities, GDP contribution, and investment. The creative economy is not only about cultural expression, but also about business,” said the Minister of Creative Economy.
On this occasion, the Minister of Creative Economy and the Regent of Jember also discussed strategies to strengthen leading creative economy subsectors such as culinary, crafts, and fashion based on local potential. Signature products such as Jember coffee, bamboo weaving from Sidomukti Village, as well as the Jember Fashion Carnaval (JFC), serve as unique attractions that must be continuously developed.
The Minister also emphasized the importance of developing creative industries rooted in cultural values and strong storytelling, as successfully practiced by countries such as France, Japan, and South Korea.

The Regent of Jember conveyed that the regency he leads is one of the most populous areas in East Java, with 2.6 million residents. Jember also ranks third in the number of universities in the province, with more than 20 higher education institutions, including three state universities. However, Jember faces serious challenges in terms of poverty.
“With the majority of the population in the productive age, we see the creative economy as a concrete solution to reducing poverty. We want to establish monthly creative agendas starting with JFC in August, followed by cultural parades and other creative activities, so that Jember will be recognized as a creative economy regency,” said the Regent of Jember.
He affirmed that the presence of JCC aims to reach all layers of society and spread the spirit of creativity down to the sub-district level.
