Malang, April 29, 2025 – Minister of Creative Economy Teuku Riefky Harsya paid a visit to the Malang Creative Center (MCC), a hub for creative economy players in Malang City, East Java. The Minister encouraged the establishment of more creative spaces to further optimize the potential of the creative economy in the regions.

“Shared creative spaces need to be expanded to drive innovation and creativity, as well as to enhance the competitiveness of Indonesia’s creative economy,” said Minister of Creative Economy Teuku Riefky at MCC, Malang City, on Tuesday, April 29, 2025.
During the visit, Minister of Creative Economy Teuku Riefky praised MCC for its modern and comprehensive facilities, which can be accessed free of charge by the public for various creative activities. He stated that the Ministry of Creative Economy consistently encourages local governments to provide creative spaces so that the creative economy can grow into a new engine of national economic growth.
“We are committed to continuously developing creative economy infrastructure, such as MCC, as platforms for creative actors to collaborate and grow together,” added Minister of Creative Economy Teuku Riefky.

At the same occasion, Mayor of Malang Wahyu Hidayat highlighted that since 2023, MCC has hosted 13,958 creative events, engaged 2,867 creative actors, and reached more than 655,075 beneficiaries. The eight-story MCC is also equipped with comprehensive facilities, including multipurpose areas, workshops, co-working spaces, an amphitheater, a superstore for MSMEs, and an auditorium.
“MCC, as a creative hub that accommodates 17 creative economy subsectors, serves as an ideal platform for creative actors to collaborate and develop the creative economy potential of Malang City,” said Wahyu Hidayat.
The visit by Minister of Creative Economy Teuku Riefky to MCC provided an opportunity to directly observe how creative spaces can become a major driver of new economic growth and the creation of quality, sustainable jobs in the creative economy sector, contributing to the realization of Indonesia’s Golden Vision 2045. The Minister also encouraged hexahelix collaboration at MCC to accelerate the expansion and equal distribution of creative spaces.

Minister of Creative Economy Teuku Riefky further expressed hope that MCC will continue to serve as a strong creative collaboration hub in Greater Malang and even across East Java. He also encouraged Malang City to accelerate the growth and competitiveness of its creative economy sector, especially following its success in passing the administrative selection process to join the UNESCO Creative Cities Network.
Accompanying the Minister of Creative Economy during the visit was Deputy Minister for Strategic Creative Economy Development Cecep Rukendi. Mayor of Malang Wahyu Hidayat was accompanied by MCC Director Ageng Bagus Armanda.
