Magelang, May 29, 2025 – After visiting the Military Academy in Magelang earlier on his second day in Indonesia, French President Emmanuel Macron continued his trip to Borobudur Temple in Magelang Regency, Central Java. President Macron, accompanied by President Prabowo, arrived at the Borobudur complex at 2:00 PM local time and was greeted by Minister of Creative Economy, Teuku Riefky Harsya, before touring the UNESCO World Heritage site.

In his remarks, President Prabowo expressed his honor in accompanying President Macron’s historic visit. He conveyed his optimism that the close cooperation between the two countries would lead to many strategic outcomes.
“I believe and am optimistic that our partnership will continue and serve as a bridge for cultural figures, artists, creative economy players, and communities of both nations.”
Minister of Creative Economy, Teuku Riefky, stated that the visit to Borobudur represents an acknowledgment from the French government of the masterful creativity of Indonesia’s ancestors. This echoed the sentiment conveyed by Minister Rachida Dati during her visit to the Ministry of Creative Economy yesterday afternoon, Wednesday, May 28.

“We are certainly proud and honored by President Macron’s visit. It is a form of recognition of our nation’s creativity. Borobudur is both an inspiration and a source of creativity for our creative talents, which must continue to be nurtured,” he said.
Minister Riefky further emphasized that the visit signifies France’s commitment to making Indonesia a strategic partner in the development of the creative economy sector.
“Yesterday, we signed the MoU between our two countries at the Presidential Palace, followed by Minister Rachida Dati’s visit, and today we are here in Magelang. This marks the beginning of a concrete, equal, and mutually beneficial cooperation,” he concluded.

As is known, the Indonesia-France Creative Economy MoU covers games, film, animation, series, fashion, design, and crafts. Various joint activities will be carried out in both countries. After the Borobudur Temple visit, President Macron’s delegation departed directly for Yogyakarta International Airport to continue his state visit to other countries.
