Bali, June 24, 2025 — The Ministry of Creative Economy remains committed to advancing the creative economy as a new engine of growth. This was emphasized by Deputy Minister of Creative Economy, Irene Umar, during her speech at the Asia's Premier Summit for the Media, Telecoms and Entertainment Industry (APOS) CEO Forum 2025, held in Bali.

“My presence at APOS is part of our mission to ensure that Indonesian talent rises to the global stage. This is an opportunity to connect directly with executives from Google, TikTok, Netflix, Amazon, Disney, and others so we can open more doors for content exports, technology investments, and strategic partnerships,” said Vice Minister Irene at the APOS CEO Forum 2025, held at the Rimba Ballroom, Ayana Resort, Bali, on Tuesday, June 24, 2025.
Hosted by Media Partners Asia (MPA), APOS CEO Forum 2025 serves as an exclusive platform for industry leaders, technology, and entertainment sectors across the Asia Pacific’s media to exchange strategic insights and forge cross-sector collaborations. The Ministry of Creative Economy’s participation marks a concrete step in expanding Indonesia’s international network and strengthening its position in the global creative value chain.
During the forum, Deputy Minister Irene highlighted the importance of supporting Indonesian creative talents from production and marketing to distribution and capacity building. She pointed out that many Indonesian talents produce high-quality content but struggle to market their products globally due to limitations in market literacy and language.
“We don’t just want to showcase their work; we want to equip them with the tools, access, and networks they need to engage directly with global players. No matter how good the product is, without a strong distribution and communication strategy, the message will not reach its audience,” she added.
Through the APOS CEO Forum 2025, Deputy Minister Irene seeks to strengthen Indonesia’s creative content diplomacy on a global scale. Key priorities include accelerating the export of local intellectual property (IP), increasing the value of digital content, and reforming distribution policies to ensure greater fairness and quality-based competition. She also advocated for a sandbox approach to regulatory innovation and cross-sector collaboration models.

In addition, she emphasized the importance of a shared understanding of what the creative economy is, how its contribution is measured, and why a data-driven approach is crucial. The Ministry is targeting the creative economy to contribute more than 8% to Indonesia’s GDP (Gross Domestic Product) by the end of 2025, driven by strengthened digital subsectors, downstream content development, and the export potential of IP as the new engine of growth for the Indonesian economy.
The APOS CEO Forum 2025 was also attended by notable figures such as Isaac Bess (Global Head of Distribution, TikTok), Kylie Watson-Wheeler (SVP & MD, The Walt Disney Company ANZ), and Paul Brett (Founder, Flying Tiger Entertainment, UK).
