Jakarta, 9 December 2025 – The Ministry of Creative Economy/Creative Economy Agency amplified six stories created by alumni of the Serial Script Development Masterclass Program (SCENE) through SHOWCASCENE 2025. Deputy Minister of Creative Economy Irene Umar emphasized that this initiative serves as an important platform to highlight the unique selling points of Indonesia’s creative talents.

“Indonesia has a strong foundation of unique stories that are not only locally relevant but also resonate nationally. It is crucial for scriptwriters across the country—not only those based in Jakarta—to grow within a healthy creative environment,” said Deputy Minister Irene during the opening of SHOWCASCENE at the Royal Hotel Kuningan Ballroom on Tuesday, 9 December 2025.
SHOWCASCENE 2025 marks the culmination of a series of activities starting from the Alumni Bootcamp held on 9 November in Jakarta, followed by workshops and a showcase of six talents at the JAFF Market last week. The event serves as a platform for participants to present their sizzle reels—developed through incubation and mentoring sessions—to producers, OTT (Over The Top) representatives, and stakeholders from the creative industry.
“The Ministry created SHOWCASCENE as a platform for screenwriters to learn how to ‘sell’ their stories by connecting them directly with production houses and OTT representatives,” Irene added.

The selected talents are recognized not only for their technical abilities but also for their consistency and adaptability amid the transformation of Indonesia’s creative industry. More than 800 applicants from 28 provinces submitted their work, which was narrowed down to 65 curated scripts before producing six top creators who share a common vision for the film industry.
“Through SHOWCASCENE 2025, everyone must get to know each other, support one another, collaborate, and move forward together. The strength of Indonesia’s creative community lies in collaboration. These selected writers can also maximize social media to promote their stories with authentic snippets,” said Deputy Minister Irene.
The Ministry, through the Deputy for Media Creativity, continues to evolve the SCENE program due to its strategic role in developing audiovisual scriptwriting talent. With Indonesia’s OTT market expanding and the demand for local content growing, the theme ‘Five Years Developing Talent, Crafting Indonesian Stories’ was chosen for this year’s event.

“About 87 percent of OTT users prefer platforms that offer content in the Indonesian language and with Indonesian themes. This trend signals the importance of producing authentic, meaningful local stories. With such rich cultural diversity, Indonesia has countless cultural roots to draw from—because Indonesia is the ultimate landscape of diversity. But these stories will remain untold unless they are transformed into compelling storyselling,” said Agustini Rahayu, Deputy for Media Creativity.
The Ministry also collaborates with Wahana Edukasi, an organization dedicated to building creative capacity in the film and audiovisual content sectors through incubation, training, and acceleration programs, fostering a sustainable creative talent ecosystem.

“This is not just a series of classes—it is a movement. A commitment to guide young creators in finding their voice, connecting them with networks that can support their careers, and helping build a system where creativity is not only celebrated, but treated as a foundation for national progress. The mission to bring Indonesian stories to new spaces, reimagine visual language, and uphold courage as a value that advances us all is a shared responsibility,” said Salman Aristo, Chair of Wahana Edukasi Foundation.
