The meeting, which took place at Menara Merdeka, Jakarta, aimed to reinforce the collaboration between the government and ICCN in supporting the infrastructure of the creative economy ecosystem in Indonesia. Minister of Creative Economy Teuku Riefky Harsya emphasized the central government's role as a facilitator, supporting regional development of the creative economy.

"We are optimistic that with close cooperation, existing challenges can be overcome. One of our focuses is to ensure that creative economy data is more accurate, including through collaboration with the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) and related associations," said Minister of Creative Economy Riefky during the meeting on Friday, March 21, 2025.

ICCN itself is a network of Creative Cities/Regencies that has been established since 2015 with the vision of realizing the 10 Principles of Creative Cities. To achieve this goal, ICCN develops the Catha Ekadasa program as a main strategy.

To date, ICCN has embraced more than 211 cities and regencies across Indonesia. ICCN also involves various elements in the pentahelix ecosystem of the creative economy, including academics, entrepreneurs/SMEs, communities, government, media, and aggregators.

To this end, Minister of Economy Creative Riefky is working with the Ministry of Home Affairs by signing a Joint Decree (SKB) on the establishment of creative economy agencies at the regional level.

This step is expected to strengthen regulations and policies that are supportive of creative industry players. Additionally, the government will reactivate creative spaces in various regions and encourage the use of cooperatives to support the sustainability of creative businesses.

"We are also working on creating a creative economy index and certifying skilled workers to ensure that this industry becomes more professional and competitive," added Minister of Creative Economy Riefky.

Fiki also emphasized three main focuses from this meeting, which are:

  1. Encouraging the establishment of creative economy agencies in every regency/city and province to strengthen coordination with regional governments.

  2. Processing more comprehensive data through a digital dashboard to monitor the contribution of the creative economy to GDP, employment, and investment.

  3. Identifying creative potential in each region, including utilizing idle spaces that can be developed through cooperation with SOEs and regional-owned enterprises.
