Jakarta, 21 April, 2026 – In commemoration of Kartini Day, the Ministry of Creative Economy/Creative Economy Agency (Ekraf), in collaboration with PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero), presents a creative partnership with young artist Erika Richardo through painted artworks applied directly to train carriages operating on the Jakarta–Surabaya route. This collaboration brings together complementary roles.
The Deputy Minister of Creative Economy, Irene Umar, directly participated in the collaborative artwork between the Ministry of Creative Economy, KAI, and Erika Richardo in commemoration of Kartini Day in Jakarta on Monday (April 13, 2026).
The launch, held on April 21, 2026, introduces a new space for creative works to be experienced more closely by the public. The Jakarta–Surabaya route was selected due to its high mobility, allowing the artwork to be enjoyed by a wider audience in their daily lives.
Erika Richardo presents an artistic interpretation through her distinctive visual style, KAI provides a medium with extensive reach through national transportation services, while the Ministry of Creative Economy promotes broader access for creative works and local Intellectual Property (IP) to be showcased in public spaces.

“The Government is committed to opening pathways for Indonesia’s creative talent. This collaboration serves as a tangible example of how state-owned assets such as KAI can act as a catalyst for the growth of local IP, enabling it to gain wider recognition and be present inclusively in public spaces,” said Deputy Minister of Creative Economy Irene Umar.

The Deputy Minister’s direct involvement in the creative process symbolizes strong support for cross-sector collaboration. The Kartini Day momentum further reinforces the message of courage in creation and the importance of providing broader space for women’s creativity and Indonesia’s young talent.
Erika Richardo stated that this project represents an effort to bring creative works from digital spaces into experiences closer to everyday life.

“I want this artwork to be part of people’s journeys. Hopefully, those who see it will feel closer to Indonesian creativity and experience its presence in their daily lives,” said Erika.
As a public transportation company, KAI presents trains as a new medium to expand customer experience. Travel is no longer solely about mobility, but also a space for interaction with evolving creative works in Indonesia. KAI’s Director of Human Resources and Institutional Affairs, Atih Nurhayati, stated that this collaboration aligns with the company’s transformation direction.
“The Kartini Day momentum provides space for more open and inclusive collaboration. KAI aims to offer journeys that are increasingly connected to people’s lives and creativity,” she said.

In addition to the main artwork, several local IP characters managed by Tale X, such as Starla (Sekuya), Miyu (Halomiyu), Ripple, and Dripsy, are also featured on the train body. These visual elements add a new dimension to the travel experience and strengthen the connection between creative works and the public.
This collaboration demonstrates that synergy between creators, government, and industry can generate broader value. Creative works gain new spaces, the public enjoys unique experiences, and train journeys become part of that interaction.

Kartini Day serves as a reminder that the courage to create and collaborate across sectors can open new opportunities. Through this initiative, the Ministry of Creative Economy continues to strengthen the creative economy ecosystem while ensuring that Indonesia’s local IP can grow, develop, and become increasingly accessible to the public.
