Jakarta, June 9, 2026 – The Ministry of Creative Economy/Creative Economy Agency and the National Narcotics Agency (BNN) have agreed to protect Indonesia’s creative industry ecosystem from the dangers of narcotics, in line with President Prabowo Subianto’s Asta Cita program on drug eradication. This initiative also supports efforts to nurture an outstanding young generation in preparation for Golden Indonesia 2045.
Minister of Creative Economy Teuku Riefky Harsya receives an audience from the National Narcotics Agency (BNN) at the Ministry of Creative Economy Office, Jakarta, Tuesday (June 9, 2026).
“The creative economy sector is driven by our greatest assets—human resources and the innovative ideas of Indonesia’s young generation. Therefore, creating a drug-free environment throughout the creative ecosystem is a crucial step to ensure that our local talents can continue to create and innovate productively and in good health,” said Minister of Creative Economy Teuku Riefky Harsya during an audience with BNN on Tuesday (June 9).
The Ministry of Creative Economy discussed the importance of integrating the Prevention and Eradication of Narcotics Abuse and Illicit Trafficking Program (P4GN) into creative economy activities. The discussion focused specifically on utilizing various creative subsectors, including film, music, animation, games, performing arts, and visual communication design, as interactive platforms for public education.

“Through a fresh, communicative, and visually driven approach, we can transform anti-drug messages into persuasive creative content for young people. We believe that collaboration with content creators and creative communities across different regions will generate sustainable positive impacts,” added Teuku Riefky.
This preventive measure aligns with BNN’s mandate as the government agency responsible for preventing and combating illicit narcotics trafficking in accordance with applicable regulations. BNN views close cooperation with government institutions such as the Ministry of Creative Economy as essential to expanding educational outreach and mitigating the risks of narcotics abuse.

The initiative was prompted by drug abuse prevalence data for the 2023–2025 period, which reached 2.11 percent, or approximately 4.11 million people of productive age. BNN highlighted the serious threat posed by New Psychoactive Substances (NPS), particularly liquid narcotics such as the anesthetic etomidate, which are increasingly being misused through vapes and pod devices. According to survey findings, this dangerous trend has spread significantly to rural areas and has even begun targeting school-age children.
“We highly appreciate the Ministry of Creative Economy’s openness to integrating the P4GN program into the national creative ecosystem. An approach rooted in arts, culture, and digital platforms will make it easier for BNN to deliver anti-drug educational messages to communities across various regions,” said BNN Chief Suyudi Ario Seto.

The meeting resulted in an agreement to prepare a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Ministry of Creative Economy and BNN, focusing on two primary areas of collaboration: engaging influencers and content creators to package BNN’s P4GN campaign using informal and contemporary language, and integrating BNN’s Bersinar (Drug-Free) Program with the Ministry’s Creative Village initiative into a unified program. Beyond these priorities, potential areas of cooperation also include joint research, data sharing on risk patterns within the creative economy ecosystem, capacity building, anti-drug awareness campaigns at creative hubs, and the development of educational content across multiple creative subsectors.
During the audience, the Minister of Creative Economy was accompanied by Special Staff to the Minister Rian Firmansyah; Director of Strategic Studies and Management Agus Syarip Hidayat; Head of the Bureau of Legal Affairs, Human Resources, and Organization M. Nurul Huda; Head of the General Affairs Bureau Indra Saputra Farhas; and Ministerial Expert Staff Gemintang K. Mallarangeng.
