“Elshinta is a living legend in Indonesia’s radio industry, remaining strong on air despite numerous challenges and now expanding into digital platforms. The Ministry of Creative Economy is ready to collaborate with Elshinta to extend the reach of accurate and beneficial information to the public. Media like Elshinta play a crucial role in strengthening the creative economy ecosystem, serving as a means to spread ideas, provide education, and foster constructive interaction,” said Minister of Creative Economy Teuku Riefky Harsya following an audience at Radio Elshinta’s office in Jakarta on Monday, 15 September 2025.

The Minister of Creative Economy highlighted that the Ministry of Creative Economy has undertaken several collaborations, which have been downstreamed to ensure benefits reach strategic partners directly. This downstreaming involves cross-sector collaboration using a hexahelix approach, integrating associations, private sector, academia, and financial institutions to support the sustainability of the creative economy ecosystem.

“In the past 10 months, we have signed various MoUs with strategic partners. The key is how these MoUs can be implemented at the community, business, and media levels. Elshinta, with its reach and credibility, can be a key partner to ensure this downstreaming truly benefits the public,” explained Minister of Creative Economy Riefky.

Radio Elshinta, established in 1968 by Suyoso Karsono (Mas Yos), is recognized as a pioneer in Indonesian news radio. Initially broadcasting oldies, jazz, and top 40 music, Elshinta transformed into a 24/7 news station after the 1997–1998 crisis through its interactive program “Info Dari Anda.” With diverse programming such as Elshinta News and Talk, Interactive Discussions, and international broadcasts from BBC, CRI, and NHK, Elshinta continues to provide accurate, up-to-date information, reinforcing radio as a responsive and reliable media outlet.

Suwiryo, senior news presenter at Elshinta and Chairperson of the Indonesian Radio Broadcasters Association (PERSIARI), highlighted the challenges of digital disruption for radio practitioners, especially in the regions. He noted that synergy between the government and the radio industry ecosystem, including associations, is key to developing higher-quality and adaptive talent.

“Creative radio practitioners in the regions are fairly educated regarding the shift toward digital platforms. What they need is guidance. We hope the Ministry of Creative Economy, together with Radio Elshinta and professional associations like PERSIARI, can create training programs to nurture radio talent that is more adaptive, skilled, and ready to face changes,” said Suwiryo.

Meanwhile, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Elshinta, D.S. Krisanti, emphasized the importance of synergy between media and government in disseminating Ekraf’s achievements and programs. Clear and accessible information strengthens public participation and supports the national creative economy ecosystem.

“The public needs to know what the Ministry of Creative Economy has achieved. Without this information, public participation is limited. When information is clear and reaches the grassroots, participation increases significantly. This, in turn, expands the Ministry’s reach and strengthens its synergy with society,” said D.S. Krisanti.

The audience was attended by Minister of Creative Economy Riefky Special Staff for Communication, Media & Public Services Renanda Bachtar, Acting Head of Bureau of Communication Kiagoos Irvan Faisal, Director of Television and Radio Pupung Thariq Fadhillah, Ministerial Media Expert Rocklin Aprilius Anderson, and Media & Public Opinion Expert Hasbil Mustaqim Lubis.
