Jakarta, 27 August 2025 — The Ministry of Creative Economy/Creative Economy Agency, the Indonesian Employers Association (APINDO), and the International Labour Organization (ILO) are collaborating to strengthen the capacity of Indonesia’s creative MSMEs to compete on the global stage. This cross-sector collaboration is marked by the launch of the APINDO SMEs & Sustainability Journal and recognition of innovative national batik designs.
Wakil Menteri Ekonomi Kreatif, Irene Umar, memberi sabutan pada rangkaian perayaan 75th Hubungan Baik Indonesia dan Labour Organization (ILO) oleh Asosiasi Pengusaha Indonesia (APINDO) di Gedung Permata Kuningan, Jakarta, Rabu (27/08/2025).
In her remarks, Deputy Minister of Creative Economy Irene Umar expressed appreciation to APINDO and the ILO for creating a collaborative space across sectors for MSMEs and creative industry players.
“This event proves that heritage such as batik can give birth to new innovations. With the strength of MSMEs and young creative economy talent, Indonesia is ready to emerge as the new economic engine for the world,” said the Deputy Minister of Creative Economy during the program launch and presentation of the National Batik Design Competition Awards in Jakarta, Wednesday, 27 August 2025.

The 75th anniversary of Indonesia–ILO relations reinforces the role of batik, MSMEs, and young creative talent as drivers of national economic competitiveness on the global stage.
Chairwoman of APINDO Shinta Kamdani emphasized that the sustainability of Indonesia’s economic growth depends on strengthening MSMEs and the creative sector.
“MSMEs in Indonesia are the backbone of the national economy. Their contribution to employment and economic growth is significant. Therefore, strengthening their capacity and access to progress to the next level is a shared agenda,” said Shinta.

The collaboration between APINDO, the ILO, and the Ministry of Creative Economy reflects a commitment to building a more inclusive, sustainable, and globally competitive ecosystem for MSMEs and the creative sector.
