Bali, 27 November 2025 – Minister of Creative Economy/Head of the Creative Economy Agency Teuku Riefky Harsya emphasized that Indonesia’s creative economy sector has exceeded its annual GDP contribution target. He highlighted that this momentum will be reinforced through Hexahelix collaboration and efforts to bring local Intellectual Property (IP) to the global stage. The statement was delivered at the Trend Maker Summit 2025 in Bali, a strategic platform for positioning Indonesia from a consumer of trends to a global trendsetter.
Menteri Ekonomi Kreatif, Teuku Riefky Harsya, memberi sambutan pada acara Trend Maker Summit 2025 di Platinum Hotel Jimbaran, Bali, Kamis (27/11/2025).
“Strong cross-sector collaboration is now needed through stakeholders up to the international level. The Hexahelix approach fosters joint innovation between government, academia, financial institutions, media, communities, and businesses, allowing Indonesia to shift from trend follower to trend creator in creativity and economic impact,” said Minister Riefky at the Platinum Hotel Jimbaran on Thursday, 27 November 2025.
The Minister also encouraged strengthening data, talent development, Intellectual Property protection, and sustainable financing to enhance the competitiveness of the national creative economy ecosystem.
He further discussed the growth, recent achievements, and programs of the Ministry of Creative Economy for 2026, highlighting initiatives that provide sustainable solutions and shape future trends, such as the upcoming World Conference on Creative Economy (WCCE) in Bali—a global platform emphasizing the role of the creative economy in global development.
“In October 2026, Indonesia will host the World Conference on Creative Economy (WCCE), which will serve as a foundation for international creative economy policy,” said Minister Riefky.
The Minister also noted the importance of understanding shifts in culture, technology, and consumer behavior, which impact workforce expansion and the creative economy’s contribution to GDP. “The creative economy’s contribution to GDP has more than doubled, from IDR 700 trillion in 2013 to IDR 1,500 trillion in 2024, surpassing the 2025 target of 7 percent of national GDP,” he stated.

He emphasized that the creative industry must translate trend awareness into economic and social impact through product innovation, experiences, and policy development—citing, for example, the Pacu Jalur boat race as a globally recognized creative phenomenon.
“We want to appreciate Katadata Indonesia and OMG Consulting in collaboration with TrendWatching for initiating the Trend Maker Summit 2025. This collaboration shares the same vision: bringing Indonesian IP to the international stage. We must orchestrate this collectively to enhance investment, exports, job creation, and GDP contribution,” explained Minister Riefky.
Trend Maker Summit 2025 serves as a two-day platform (27–28 November 2025) for industry leaders to explore and learn. Under the theme Indonesia’s Innovation Journey: Inspiring the Future, the event celebrates Indonesia’s alignment with global trends while also creating new ones.
“This conference is a meeting space where global expertise meets local opportunities, allowing businesses, policymakers, and innovators to understand and act on the forces shaping the future. We cannot predict the future, but we can read trends. The event discusses global trends that inspire local innovations so that in 2026 we can map and implement impactful innovations,” said Yoris Sebastian, Founder of OMG Creative Consulting.
