The Istanbul Publishing Fellowship 2026 serves as a prestigious copyright market organized by the Turkish Press and Publishers Copyright & Licensing Society (TBYM) with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Turkey. The Ministry of Creative Economy / Creative Economy Agency (Ekraf) considers this program an effective platform to bring together global publishers and showcase the potential of Indonesia’s creative industry, particularly the publishing subsector.
Last year, in June, Deputy Minister of Ekraf Irene Umar inaugurated the new office of the publishing company focused on producing children’s books with educational and Islamic themes, such as Kreatifafa, in Sleman, Yogyakarta. Several copyrights of Kreatifafa’s book titles have already been purchased by Saudi Arabia and Germany. This demonstrates that Kreatifafa’s children’s books, available in both Indonesian and English, are able to meet global children’s literacy needs.

“This is an extraordinary opportunity to meet numerous figures from various countries while sharing Indonesia’s story. The Istanbul Fellowship represents a strategic step to demonstrate that the works of our nation’s children meet high-quality standards and are capable of competing in the global market,” stated Fatchul Hidayah.

Indonesia is no longer merely a consumer of foreign content but now assumes the role of a producer of high-quality books worthy of global consumption. This participation is expected to inspire the Indonesian publishing industry to strengthen its bargaining power in the international market.
