Minister of Creative Economy Teuku Riefky Harsya viewed the initiative as an important platform for the nation’s creative talents to contribute practical and applicable AI-based digital solutions to strengthen Indonesia’s creative economy ecosystem. According to the Minister, the Hackathon is a key component of Indonesia’s creative digital talent development strategy in the era of artificial intelligence.

“We are not only talking about technology, but about the people behind it. AI opens vast opportunities to increase productivity and reach global markets, but its utilization must also be accompanied by digital literacy, ethics, and intellectual property protection so that the creative ecosystem can grow fairly and sustainably. This collaboration with AWS and Dicoding through the Hackathon demonstrates how technology and creativity can come together to produce tangible solutions for Indonesia’s creative economy,” said Minister Teuku Riefky.

The event, held at the AWS Indonesia office on Thursday, 23 October 2025, marked the culmination of the AWS Back-End Academy 2025 Online Hackathon, which ran from 6 August to 6 October 2025. Through the 2025 Hackathon “AI for Creative Economy,” participants received direct training from AWS on 21 August 2025, covering AI fundamentals, data processing, dataset integration, responsible AI, as well as introductions to Amazon Bedrock and Amazon SageMaker.

Participants were then tasked with developing digital products in the form of applications or websites focused on one of five use cases: creative economy enablers, film and music, fashion and crafts, applications and games, and culinary.

From a total of 44 AI products developed by participants from 28 cities across 11 provinces, five winners were selected based on innovation, originality, utilization of AWS services, and their impact on the creative economy ecosystem:

Meanwhile, Director of Emerging Digital Technologies Dandy Yudha Feryawan also shared his hopes for the sustainability of the program. He highlighted the government’s role in accelerating the works of Indonesian talents, particularly in the digital sector.

“The function of the Ministry of Creative Economy is to increase the added value of digital products created by participants. Amazon Web Services (AWS) is the world’s largest cloud service provider, offering more than 240 services that support a wide range of digital needs, from computing to artificial intelligence. Meanwhile, Dicoding is an Indonesian edtech company focused on developing digital talent through technology training.
