Jakarta, 28 November 2025 – The Ministry of Creative Economy/Creative Economy Agency, through the Directorate of Culinary, will hold a Culinary Subsector Business Matching event in Sydney, Australia on 4 December 2025. This agenda is a continuation of the S’RASA (Rasa Rempah Indonesia) Program, a cross-ministerial collaboration led by the Ministry of Trade, aimed at expanding the reach of Indonesian culinary products to international markets.
“The Business Matching activity in Sydney is a strategic step to introduce Indonesia’s rich culinary heritage to global markets. We aim to expand the reach of our flagship culinary products while strengthening Indonesia’s image as a country with rich and unique flavors. We are confident that Indonesian tastes will gain more popularity in Australia and beyond,” said Minister of Creative Economy, Teuku Riefky Harsya, on Friday, 28 November 2025.
Under the theme Connecting Taste to Opportunity – Empowering Indonesia’s Local Flavor and Spices, the event will bring together 25 potential buyers from the culinary, retail, and restaurant sectors in Sydney and its surrounding areas. They will explore partnership opportunities and export potential with 10 Indonesian culinary brands, ranging from accelerator programs to established and emerging businesses.
Participating brands include Havilla Bespoke Tea, Battenberg Tiga Indonesia, Awan Kerupuk 988, Restu Mande, MagFood, Acaraki, Lemonilo, La Moringa, Ladang Lima, and Restoran Sederhana, which is currently expanding internationally.
More than just a meeting between businesses and potential partners, the Sydney Business Matching is designed to strengthen Indonesian culinary branding through product presentations, brand introductions, and discussions on sustainable distribution. This approach is expected to open broader opportunities for regional market expansion.
“This initiative is an important bridge for Indonesian culinary products to enter global markets. We hope that the Business Matching event will strengthen the export ecosystem and provide broader market access for Indonesian culinary entrepreneurs,” explained Deputy for Cultural and Design Creativity, Yuke Sri Rahayu.
The Ministry of Creative Economy aims for the event to produce a comprehensive mapping of demand for spices, raw materials, and derivative culinary products in Australia. This effort forms part of a strategy to strengthen exports from the creative economy’s culinary subsector, which is projected to reach 6.8% growth by 2029, further positioning Indonesia in the global gastrodiplomacy landscape.
“Indonesian culinary products have increasing global competitiveness. It is not only the diversity of dishes, but also the richness of spices and high-quality ingredients. We target stronger subsector exports in Australia and Asia. With a focused strategy, we are optimistic that Indonesian culinary players can become major international players,” emphasized Minister Riefky regarding the culinary subsector’s export value.
As part of the program, Business Matching participants will visit two Indonesian restaurants in Sydney—Medan Ciak Sydney and Pandawa Sydney. Both establishments, curated under the S’RASA Program, serve as showcase partners to directly introduce Indonesia’s culinary richness to the Australian market.
Through this Business Matching initiative, the Ministry of Creative Economy aims to expand business networks, enhance the capacity of culinary entrepreneurs, and accelerate Indonesia’s presence in the international culinary industry. The event is expected to lay the foundation for long-term cooperation, benefiting all parties and enriching Indonesia’s image through the diplomacy of taste.
