Jakarta, 18 June 2025 — Deputy Minister of Creative Economy, Irene Umar, welcomed a courtesy visit from Riot Games at the Ministry’s office in Jakarta on Wednesday, 18 June 2025. The discussion centered on expanding cross-sector collaborations and strengthening the national gaming ecosystem.

“We are open to any form of collaboration that can enhance the capacity of local gaming industry players and strengthen Indonesia’s position as a global hub for creative economy growth,” said Deputy Minister of Creative Economy Irene.
Riot Games is a global video game developer and publisher headquartered in Los Angeles, United States. The company is known for leading titles such as League of Legends, League of Legends: Wild Rift, Teamfight Tactics, and VALORANT, available on both PC and mobile platforms.
Deputy Minister of Creative Economy Irene stressed the importance of developing programs that connect games with other creative subsectors, such as music, film, illustration, and local intellectual property (IP).
“Cross-sector collaboration is key to driving an inclusive and sustainable creative ecosystem — and this is central to the spirit of the Ministry of Creative Economy,” she added.
Riot Games has previously collaborated with various Indonesian products and IPs, including Tahilalats, the band Float, and Kremlin as official merchandise partners. Every Eid al-Fitr, Riot also organizes Luminance, a community gaming event held before dawn during Ramadan in partnership with local internet cafés (warnet).
Resha Adi Pradipta, Country Manager of Riot Games Indonesia, welcomed the opportunity to partner with the Ministry. He highlighted the abundance of ideas and inspiration that could be developed together, particularly in creating collaborative spaces that enhance Indonesia’s competitiveness on the global stage.
“We aim to foster a healthy gaming ecosystem in Indonesia. This includes opening collaboration channels to support local IP development and hosting global-scale gaming events. Indonesia has enormous potential to host international e-sports tournaments,” said Resha.

In the near future, Riot Games is preparing several initiatives, including the VALORANT Community Tournament Summer 2025 and the Level Up Indonesian Game Developers program, aimed at increasing local participation and improving the quality of talent in the gaming industry.
Also attending the meeting were Tania Wiyono, Public Relations Manager, and Praise Ichtus, Public Policy & Government Relations Manager from Riot Games. Deputy Minister Irene was accompanied by the Ministry’s Director of Games, Luat S.P. Sihombing.
This collaboration is part of the Ministry’s commitment to strengthening Indonesia’s position as The New Engine of Growth by boosting the competitiveness of the gaming subsector, creating quality job opportunities, and advancing the creative economy on a global scale.
