Ministry of Creative Economy Commits to Preparing Youth as Founders of Indonesia’s Digital-Creative Economy

Bekasi, 14 December 2025 — The Ministry of Creative Economy / Creative Economy Agency called on more than 2,500 university graduates, including international students from over 45 countries, to become founders and game changers of Indonesia’s creative economy. At the 21st Commencement Ceremony of President University, Deputy Minister of Creative Economy / Deputy Head of the Creative Economy Agency Irene Umar reaffirmed the government’s commitment to opening access and providing full support for young people to build globally competitive creative businesses grounded in Indonesia’s cultural identity.

Wakil Menteri Ekonomi Kreatif, Irene Umar, menjadi pembicara dalam Wisuda ke-21 President University di President University di Cikarang, Bekasi, Minggu (14/12/2025).

“We are living in an era where creativity is no longer an option, but a strategic advantage. Regardless of your academic background, the ability to think creatively, adapt, and solve problems ethically will determine your relevance in the future,” said Deputy Minister Irene Umar while delivering her address at President University in Cikarang on Sunday, 14 December 2025.

The Deputy Minister emphasized that creativity, innovation, and integrity are the key foundations for university graduates in navigating rapid global change. According to her, today’s world of work and industry no longer relies solely on academic competence, but increasingly demands creative and adaptive, cross-disciplinary thinking skills.

She also highlighted the importance of mental resilience and integrity in one’s professional journey. Challenges, failures, and uncertainty are integral parts of the process and must be faced with resilience and responsibility to ensure that success achieved is sustainable.

In the context of national development, the Vice Minister underscored that young people play a strategic role in driving the growth of Indonesia’s creative economy. The creative economy, she noted, is built on ideas, culture, and innovation, and therefore requires the active contribution of youth to generate economic value while creating social impact.

“The creative economy grows from ideas and cultural diversity. Young generations have the power to build businesses, technologies, and solutions that are not only economically valuable, but also deliver real benefits to society,” she explained.

The Deputy Minister also encouraged graduates to leverage their international experience and global networks without losing their national identity. Cultural values, diversity, and Indonesian character were emphasized as key assets in competing on the global stage.

Closing her remarks, the Deputy Minister invited the Class of 2025 graduates to apply their knowledge with clear purpose, lead with integrity, and create with empathy.
