Jakarta, 16 August 2025 – The Ministry of Creative Economy is taking part as the organizer of the Indonesia Independence Day Carnival to be held on 17 August 2025. Minister of Creative Economy Teuku Riefky Harsya emphasized that the commemoration of independence serves not only as a national narrative but also as an inclusive space for public participation.

“The 80th Independence Day celebration is not just a ceremony—it is a people’s celebration that encourages everyone to collectively feel the spirit of nationalism,” said Minister of Creative Economy Teuku Riefky on Saturday, 16 August 2025.

Earlier, the Ministry of Creative Economy initiated the selection of the official logo for the 80th Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia. Now as the organizer of the Independence Carnival, the Ministry underscores the collective spirit of Indonesia’s 80 years of independence as a symbol of continued progress aligned with this year’s national theme: “United and Independent, Prosperous People, Advanced Indonesia.”

“From the flag ceremony, carnival, traditional games, to drone and fireworks displays—everything is designed to reinforce the spirit of unity while presenting a creative, modern, and innovative face of Indonesia,” added Minister of Creative Economy Teuku Riefky.

Independence Day Schedule – 17 August 2025

Flag-raising ceremony begins with the procession of the Red and White flag and the reading of the Proclamation text escorted by a royal carriage from the National Monument (Monas) to the State Palace.
12.00 WIB – 18.00 WIB
Traditional Independence Day games are held across 10 major locations, from the National Museum to Lippo Mall Nusantara, featuring classic competitions and stamp rally prizes.
19.30 WIB – 21.30 WIB
The Independence Carnival showcases 32 decorated vehicles from ministries, institutions, state-owned enterprises, and security forces, featuring flagship programs and local IP creations. Visitors can vote for their favorite carnival truck via QR code.

A Drone Independence Show at the HI Roundabout concludes the celebrations with a dynamic display of lights and fireworks brightening the sky of Jakarta.

Deputy Minister of Creative Economy Irene Umar, serving as the Chief Coordinator of the Independence Carnival Committee, emphasized that the 80th Independence Day celebration is a moment to activate community participation.

“Through the spirit of #MajuDariAku, we invite people to celebrate independence in a more personal and meaningful way. Everyone can contribute—from joining competitions, attending the carnival, to simply voting for their favorite truck. Every act, no matter how small, reflects that the nation’s progress begins with each of us,” she said.

The 80th Independence Day celebrations can also be experienced across Indonesia through various activations involving more than 50 local Intellectual Property (IP) creators, reaffirming national identity—united, sovereign, prosperous, and continuously moving forward.
