Jakarta, February 5, 2026 – Deputy Minister of Creative Economy / Deputy Head of the Creative Economy Agency, Irene Umar, held a meeting with Voice Institute Indonesia (VII) to discuss opportunities for sustainable collaboration in strengthening the national voiceover ecosystem. Deputy Minister Irene expressed her support for voiceover talents to establish an association as a means to ensure continuous development and enhancement of voiceover talents who are ready to create and contribute productively.
Deputy Minister of Creative Economy, Irene Umar, received an audience with Voice Institute Indonesia (VII) at the Office of the Ministry of Creative Economy / Creative Economy Agency in Jakarta, Thursday (5/2/2026).
“The establishment of a voiceover association will interact directly with the market, enabling it to help shape the market so that voiceover talents are more recognized, as appreciation for voiceover work remains limited,” said Deputy Minister of Creative Economy Irene during the meeting held at the Office of the Ministry of Creative Economy / Creative Economy Agency in Jakarta on Thursday, February 5, 2026.
Deputy Minister Irene stated that the collaboration with Voice Institute Indonesia aims to encourage voice actors, from beginners to experts, to have a platform for knowledge sharing and training so they can continue to collaborate going forward. In the meeting, she also emphasized that the initiative should go beyond merely forming an association, highlighting the need for talent development through professional certification as well as the expansion of access to both national and global markets.

The meeting also discussed challenges within the voiceover industry, including competition with Artificial Intelligence (AI) as well as the importance of maintaining the personal authenticity of each voiceover talent. The Ministry of Creative Economy / Creative Economy Agency expressed its appreciation for the initiatives of Voice Institute Indonesia, which has been actively building communities across various regions. To date, VII’s community spreading has reached more than 45,847 voice people from cities across Aceh, North Sumatra, Jakarta, West Java, East Java, Yogyakarta, Bali, and Makassar.
“The Ministry of Creative Economy sees the need for a well-structured ecosystem, starting from standardized talent competencies to market access, so that voiceover practitioners can move up a level and become more competitive. Collaboration between the government and associations is key to strengthening an ecosystem that creates space for regional talents to connect directly with industry demands,” Deputy Minister Irene added.
Meanwhile, representatives of Voice Institute Indonesia presented the achievements and collaborations that have been carried out with the Ministry of Creative Economy / Creative Economy Agency through the Road to Wonder Voice of Indonesia 2025 program in several cities, reaching more than 7,200 submissions. We also recognize that a voiceover association is indeed important for enhancing capabilities, legal advocacy, and other forms of support provided by the state. In line with today’s direction, we also aim to leverage participant and project databases so that we can collaborate more extensively with a wide range of local IPs fostered by the Ministry of Creative Economy,” said Bimo Kusumo Yudho, Founder of Voice Institute Indonesia.
