Ministry of Creative Economy Discusses Digital Ecosystem with Tirto.id, Emphasizes Importance of Collaboration

Jakarta, 14 April, 2026 – The Ministry of Creative Economy / Creative Economy Agency (Ekraf) continues to strengthen collaboration with digital media in supporting the development of Indonesia’s creative economy. This effort was realized through an audience meeting and the participation of the Minister of Creative Economy / Head of the Creative Economy Agency, Teuku Riefky Harsya, in The Chapter podcast program with Tirto.id at Autograph Tower, Jakarta.

Minister of Creative Economy, Teuku Riefky Harsya, held an audience meeting and participated in The Chapter podcast program with Tirto.id at the Ministry of Creative Economy Office, Tuesday (14/4/2026).

“The creative economy cannot operate in isolation. Collaboration between government, media, creators, and digital platforms is key to strengthening the ecosystem and positioning the creative economy as the new engine of growth,” said the Minister, Tuesday (14/4).

The Minister explained that the creative economy sector serves as a pillar of the national economy, contributing Rp 1,611.2 trillion to GDP in 2024, growing above the national average, and employing 27.4 million workers, predominantly from the younger generation. On the same occasion, the Minister also emphasized the importance of leveraging technology, including artificial intelligence (AI), to support the advancement of the creative economy.

“We position AI as an enabler, not a replacement. Human creativity remains at the core, while technology helps accelerate processes and expand market access,” he stated.

Meanwhile, Editor-in-Chief of Tirto.id, Rachmadin Ismail, highlighted that the transformation of the media industry necessitates cross-sector collaboration in response to evolving business models and the dynamics of today’s digital ecosystem.

“Media can no longer rely solely on traditional models. We are building collaborations with creators, communities, and experts to maintain credibility while strengthening our influence,” said Rachmadin.

He added that Tirto.id is developing partnership models based on curation and data by involving regional creators and digital platforms to enhance both content quality and distribution.

During the discussion, the Ministry and Tirto.id also explored the evolving dynamics of the media industry in the digital era, including shifting business models, monetization challenges, and the importance of credible content curation. Collaboration was identified as a key solution to address these challenges while creating new economic value within the digital ecosystem.

The session also covered various strategic issues, ranging from the role of the state in developing the creative economy, the utilization of digital technology, to efforts in bridging creators’ idealism with market demands. The Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening the ecosystem from upstream to downstream to ensure sustainable growth for creative economy stakeholders.

Moving forward, the Ministry of Creative Economy will continue to promote a collaborative, cross-sector ecosystem, enhance talent capacity, and expand access to global markets. These efforts align with the vision of positioning the creative economy as an inclusive and globally competitive engine of growth.
