Ministry of Creative Economy Discusses 'Everything is Available' Creative Economy Concept at TMII 50th Anniversary Celebration

Jakarta, March 24, 2025 – Deputy Minister of Creative Economy/Deputy Head of the Creative Economy Agency, Irene Umar, discussed ongoing collaboration with Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII), which will celebrate its 50th anniversary on April 20. Irene encouraged the presentation of various family-friendly creative economy subsectors during the celebration.

"The people of Indonesia need to know that Taman Mini Indonesia Indah has transformed into something much more modern and inclusive," said Deputy Minister of Creative Economy Irene during a meeting at the TMII Management Building in East Jakarta on Monday, March 24, 2025.

Irene highlighted the vast areas within TMII that can be explored from different perspectives. According to her, TMII, known for its family-friendly atmosphere, must continue to emphasize this aspect.

"We can organize events that reach family audiences, ensuring that public spaces here are welcoming for fathers, mothers, and children," said Irene.

In addition, Irene expressed her desire for the collaboration in celebrating TMII’s 50th anniversary to showcase intellectual property (IP) works from various creative economy subsectors. This collaboration aims to foster pride in Indonesia's tourism icons by incorporating the creativity of the nation's youth, aligning TMII with 17 creative economy subsectors through a thematic cultural concept.

"Local IP is not just comics or character IPs. We could also create music stages to attract visitors, activation concepts for photographers to freely explore the new face of Taman Mini, and invite cultural ambassadors like Abang None Jakarta or cosplay communities to create excitement. We could also involve financial institutions like banks to strengthen the hexahelix collaboration," added Irene.

At the same event, Deputy for Media Creativity at the Ministry of Creative Economy, Agustini Rahayu, expressed hope that TMII would tap into its potential to introduce local IP. Meanwhile, Deputy for Digital and Technology Creativity at the Ministry of Creative Economy, Muhammad Neil El Himam, suggested that the ongoing collaboration between the Ministry of Creative Economy and TMII could be linked to the concept of creative hubs.

"Local IP needs a place, and Taman Mini needs activation. If local IPs want to be tenants during the anniversary event, Taman Mini must prepare the hectic market. At the same time, local IPs need to prepare manpower so the booths displayed have more engaging activity concepts to attract visitors," said Agustini Rahayu.

"Building networks and collaborations by providing physical spaces and facilities should continue to support creative economy advocates. For example, connecting an exhibition at each pavilion in Taman Mini should be supported by the local government," added Muhammad Neil El Himam.

Meanwhile, the President Director of TMII, Intan Ayu Kartika, announced that the series of events for TMII’s anniversary will take place from April 18 to April 27, 2025. She hopes all planned activities will be cohesive, ensuring that TMII continues to contribute positively in the areas of education, culture, and entertainment. Erik Lesmana, Product Development Manager at TMII, expressed that the Minister of Creative Economy should also participate in the curating process to maximize the role of communities in creative economy subsectors.

"There will be many activation programs over the next 10 days, including a Nusantara market, cultural attraction stages, and a creative hub, all of which are part of the golden anniversary celebration. These events highlight the ongoing evolution, including the new look of Taman Mini. Many things have been updated and improved to ensure synergy," said Intan Ayu.

"We can curate together local tenants and IPs to display local products such as films, culinary arts, fashion, crafts, music, local games, and other creative economy subsectors. This way, everyone can come to Taman Mini to meet the market and expand their networks. The Ministry of Creative Economy involvement in this golden anniversary celebration will help scale things up, providing equal opportunities for creative economy advocates to strengthen Indonesia's creative economy," Erik Lesmana added.

The meeting was also attended by the Deputy for Culture and Design Creativity at the Ministry of Creative Economy, Yuke Sri Rahayu, Director of Publishing and Photography at the Ministry of Creative Economy, Iman Santosa, and Director of Games at the Ministry of Creative Economy, Luat S.P. Sihombing.
