The Deputy Minister of Creative Economy/Deputy Head of the Creative Economy Agency, Irene Umar, added that the first step is gathering data from various sources to develop more effective policies.
She highlighted the importance of mapping the national game industry, including classifying businesses under Indonesia’s Standard Industrial Classification (KBLI), to enhance the sector’s recognition as a vital part of the national economy.
"Game developers in Indonesia still face major challenges, one of which is the limited number of skilled professionals in this field. Additionally, public awareness of local games remains low. Therefore, we will continue to push for the preparation of a white paper to support the national game industry," said Deputy Minister Irene.

Furthermore, Shieny highlighted the primary challenges faced by local game developers, particularly the lack of funding.
"Local game companies struggle to grow due to limited funding. We hope the government can provide more funding options and incentives for the national game industry. Additionally, foreign investment in Indonesia’s gaming sector remains very low, despite the country's large market. We aim to encourage initiatives that attract more direct foreign investments so that Indonesia's game industry can compete globally," she added.
