This program serves as a strategic initiative to equip filmmakers not only with creative excellence but also with the ability to manage business aspects and the commercialization of their works.
The Ministry of Creative Economy/Creative Economy Agency (Ekraf) is strengthening the competitiveness of regional filmmakers through the Creative Acceleration Program (AKTIF) Film: Film Distribution and Promotion Bootcamp, held in Medan from April 16–18, 2026.
AKTIF Film addresses the challenge of downstreaming in the film industry, where many works stop at the production stage without progressing to optimal distribution. Through an intensive bootcamp, participants are equipped with distribution and promotion strategies to ensure that their works become high-value economic products that are competitive in both domestic and international markets.
The Deputy for Media Creativity at the Ministry of Creative Economy, Cecep Rukendi, stated that this program is part of the government’s broader strategy to strengthen the national creative economy ecosystem by positioning film as a priority subsector.
“We aim to ensure that Indonesia’s film ecosystem grows sustainably. This program serves as a bridge for filmmakers to understand the business aspects of the film industry so that their works are competitive. AKTIF Film is not merely a space for collaboration, but an accelerator for young filmmakers to enter the global market,” said Cecep.

The Head of the Culture, Tourism, and Creative Economy Office of North Sumatra Province, Yuda Pratiwi Setiawan, added that the program is important to strengthen the capacity of creative industry players in the regions.
“Through this program, we hope that more local creators will not only excel in film production but also understand marketing strategies and the development of their works so they can compete more broadly,” he said.
In the previous year, the AKTIF Film program was also held in Jakarta, where selected works were given the opportunity to participate in the international forum Asia TV & Forum (ATF) 2025.
This year, the AKTIF Film Bootcamp in Medan is organized in collaboration with Rangkai and Cinema Poetica, featuring intensive coaching sessions with industry practitioners. The materials cover crucial aspects of the film distribution and promotion chain, including distribution legality, the commercial film industry ecosystem, intellectual property (IP) development and commercialization, and film marketing strategies.
A total of 36 participants from Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra took part in the program. They are selected young filmmakers who are ready to enter the industry ecosystem and develop their works to a broader distribution stage. From the curation process, eight outstanding film projects were selected: Silogui, Gurda Gurdi, Tree in White, Teman Kecilku, Sound of Haminjon, Di Ujung Ombak, Pukerengan, and Anak-anak Bintang.
The Director of Film, Animation, and Video at the Ministry of Creative Economy, Doni Setiawan, explained that Medan was chosen as the location due to its strong potential of young talent.

“The potential of Indonesia’s young filmmakers is immense, yet many works have not reached audiences. AKTIF serves to bridge this gap through practical training from industry professionals while opening opportunities for distribution in national and international forums,” explained Doni.
Through AKTIF Film, the Ministry of Creative Economy aims to foster professional filmmakers who are not only artistically उत्कृष्ट but also possess strong understanding of distribution and promotion as key factors for sustainability. This effort forms part of the government’s commitment to strengthening the film subsector as a competitive, inclusive pillar of the creative economy that contributes to national economic growth based on regional potential.
