Jakarta, June 11, 2026 – The Ministry of Creative Economy/Creative Economy Agency (Ekraf) is exploring strategic collaboration with YouTube and Google Indonesia to strengthen the digital creator ecosystem. The partnership is aimed at accelerating national creative economy growth through the development of digital talent, monetization of creative works, and the responsible use of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies.
Minister of Creative Economy, Teuku Riefky Harsya, received representatives from YouTube and Google Indonesia at the Ministry of Creative Economy Office in Jakarta, Thursday (11/6/2026).
Minister of Creative Economy Teuku Riefky Harsya stated that YouTube and Google are not only platforms but also strategic partners in Indonesia. Their presence has enabled creative talents to not only produce content but also build sustainable businesses, expand market reach, and create employment opportunities.
“Indonesia’s creative economy must become the new engine of growth by empowering digital creators, promoting local content on a global scale, and encouraging innovation through emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence,” said Teuku Riefky during a meeting with representatives from YouTube and Google Indonesia at the Ministry of Creative Economy in Jakarta on Thursday (11/6).

During the meeting, the Minister outlined the policy direction under the Creative Economy Master Plan (Rindekraf) 2026–2045, which will expand the scope of creative economy subsectors from 17 to 21. The expansion includes strengthening emerging technology subsectors such as artificial intelligence (AI), blockchain, Internet of Things (IoT), Web3, and cybersecurity, as well as digital content sectors including content creators, affiliates, and live commerce.
As a follow-up, the Ministry of Creative Economy is opening opportunities for collaboration between YouTube and the Ministry of Manpower through vocational training programs, joint curriculum development, and competency certification initiatives. These efforts are expected to produce industry-ready digital talent that meets the evolving needs of the creative industry.
“The Ministry of Creative Economy aims to deliver sustainable programs that are concrete and measurable. When training, certification, and industry demands are aligned, the creative economy can become a real solution for generating employment opportunities while enhancing the global competitiveness of Indonesian creators,” the Minister added.
This collaboration builds upon existing partnerships. Last year, the Ministry of Creative Economy and Google Asia Pacific launched the Google Play x Unity Game Developer Training Program to strengthen the capabilities of Indonesian game developers.

Meanwhile, Danny Ardianto, Head of Government Affairs and Public Policy for YouTube Southeast Asia, stated that YouTube provides a dynamic platform for Indonesian businesses and creators to connect with both local and global audiences, contribute to GDP growth, create jobs, and support the expansion of the digital economy.
“These creative entrepreneurs produce videos for billions of people who rely on YouTube every month for entertainment, educational, and cultural content. Through the YouTube Partner Program, advertisers use YouTube to reach creators’ audiences, and YouTube shares the majority of advertising revenue with creators. Today, there are many monetization opportunities available to creators, including revenue generated through fan engagement.
Through these innovations, we aim to continue expanding opportunities for content production and creativity among creators, musicians, and other players in Indonesia’s creative industries, enabling them to build audiences, generate economic value, and reach viewers around the world,” he explained.
The discussion also addressed the importance of maintaining a balance between copyright protection, technological innovation, and AI literacy development. This balance is considered essential to ensure that future regulations continue to support the growth of Indonesia’s creative industries, including creators who earn income through YouTube.
