“Through this program, we hope to see more independent and innovative creative entrepreneurs who contribute to regional economic development. The government is committed to creating a supportive ecosystem through literacy, financing, and cross-sector collaboration,” said Minister of Creative Economy Teuku Riefky Harsya on Saturday, October 11, 2025.
Minister of Creative Economy Teuku Riefky emphasized that business literacy is a strategic government step to boost the competitiveness of creative economy players amid global economic transformation. Director Anggara Hayun added that the creative economy sector in Malang has strong potential as a driver of local economic growth. However, creative industry players still face challenges in financial recording and reporting.
“The objective of this activity is to enhance creative entrepreneurs’ capacity in managing businesses professionally, accessing funding, and mitigating financial risks. Business literacy forms the foundation for creative players to scale up, identify opportunities, and manage healthy business finances, making them eligible to obtain financing from formal banking and non-banking institutions,” he explained.
During the same event, Member of Commission XI of the House of Representatives Hasanuddin Wahid highlighted ongoing challenges faced by creative businesses, such as limited use of technology and low financial literacy.

“Entrepreneurial mindset that has yet to mature and a creative ecosystem that is not yet optimally connected are obstacles to accelerating the sector’s growth,” he said.
Meanwhile, Head of OJK Malang, Farid Faletehan, reminded participants to stay vigilant against digital crimes and illegal investment or lending schemes.
“In Indonesia, there remains a 14 percent gap between financial inclusion and literacy levels. Therefore, understanding legality and risks is crucial. OJK is committed to protecting consumers, and education like today’s is key to preventing creative entrepreneurs from falling into illegal online loans that can hinder business growth,” he stated firmly.
Head of Tourism and Creative Economy Marketing of Malang Dispora, Laode Kulaita B, noted that the program is highly relevant to the needs of local creative players.

The program focuses on improving financial recording skills, risk mitigation, and readiness to access formal financing.
“The Business Literacy Program in Greater Malang is a continuous effort by the Ministry of Creative Economy to strengthen the capacity of around 70 local entrepreneurs in financial administration, risk management, and financing readiness. We hope Malang’s creative talents are fully prepared to level up,” Dini explained.
