Jakarta, March 6, 2025 – The Ministry of Creative Economy/Creative Economy Agency has expressed appreciation for Jumbo, a locally produced animated film. It is hoped that this film will serve as a turning point for the revival of Indonesian cinema.
Kemenekraf apresiasi film animasi Jumbo dan berharap menjadi titik balik kebangkitan industri animasi Indonesia, XXI Plaza Senayan, Kamis (06/03/2025).
This was conveyed by the Minister of Creative Economy/Head of the Creative Economy Agency, Teuku Riefky Harsya, during the premiere screening of Jumbo on Thursday, March 6, 2025, at XXI Plaza Senayan. The animated film, produced by Visinema Studio, was completed after extensive production and is set to be released nationwide during Eid 2025.
“We are incredibly proud of and appreciative of Visinema’s dedication to creating an animated film of international quality. We’ve heard that the production process took almost five years, involving over 400 creators, which is truly impressive. We hope that Jumbo will serve as a turning point for the revival of Indonesian cinema—not only achieving success domestically but also gaining global recognition,” said Minister of Creative Economy Riefky.

Deputy Minister of Creative Economy/Deputy Head of the Creative Economy Agency, Irene Umar, who was also present at the event, shared a similar sentiment. She emphasized that this milestone not only contributes to the growth of the Indonesian animation industry but also creates real job opportunities for more than 400 creators.
“With Jumbo, we see tangible proof—over 400 people were involved in this production. But beyond just involvement, this also serves as on-the-job training. If we only learn in school without real-world job training, we won’t truly understand the process. Through this film, Visinema has provided over 400 job opportunities. This is truly amazing, and we deeply appreciate Visinema’s efforts,” said Deputy Minister of Creative Economy Irene.

Minister of Creative Economy Riefky further stated that Ministry of Creative Economy will take an active role in promoting and facilitating partnerships between Visinema Studio and relevant institutions to help the Jumbo film and the Indonesian animation industry gain international recognition.
“The animation industry is filled with passionate creators striving to produce quality films. We must support these efforts, particularly in terms of promotion. While the quality of Indonesian animation continues to improve, breaking into international markets requires collaboration. We cannot let these creators work so hard only for their films to go unnoticed due to a lack of exposure. The story is compelling, and the production quality is excellent. That’s why we will assist in promotional collaborations with regional governments, particularly in Jakarta, and state-owned enterprises (BUMN),” explained Minister of Creative Economy Riefky.

“Our support will certainly continue. Jumbo will be screened in 17 countries, and we want to engage the Indonesian diaspora worldwide. This is not just a celebration for those in Indonesia, but also for Indonesians across the globe, showcasing something we can all take pride in,” added Deputy Minister of Creative Economy Irene.
The support from Ministry of Creative Economy was warmly welcomed by Anggia Kharisma, Chief of Content Officer of Visinema Studio and Producer of Jumbo. She reaffirmed Visinema’s commitment to bringing Indonesian animation to the international level.

“The support from Ministry of Creative Economy/Creative Economy Agency for Jumbo has been incredible—not just in terms of promotion, but also through real collaboration. This is exactly what we need to elevate Indonesia’s animation industry. Once again, this film was made for us, for our children, and for the child within all of us,” said Anggia.
“Of course, Jumbo will premiere in Indonesia first, but we are also planning screenings in 17 countries, with hopes of expanding beyond that. We are still negotiating distribution deals in more regions. We firmly believe that the world of Jumbo tells a story that resonates with all of us. We hope that Indonesians will support us, just as Ministry of Creative Economy/Creative Economy Agency has shown their pride. This is a fantastic collaboration. Nothing is more important than working together to advance Indonesia’s animation industry,” Anggia concluded.
