Ministry of Creative Economy – iQIYI Explore Synergies for the Development of Globally Competitive Creative Content

Jakarta, May 20, 2026 – Minister for Creative Economy/Head of the Creative Economy Agency, Teuku Riefky Harsya, received an audience with iQIYI to discuss opportunities for collaboration in developing the film, animation, video, and local digital content subsectors. The meeting also aimed to build synergies in enhancing talent capacity and distributing creative works to the global stage.

Minister for Creative Economy, Teuku Riefky Harsya, received an audience with iQIYI at the Ministry of Creative Economy Office, Jakarta, on Wednesday (20/5/2026).

iQIYI is a Chinese digital entertainment and video streaming platform company focused on films, drama series, variety shows, anime, and original content that strengthens the Asian entertainment ecosystem, particularly through Chinese dramas and Chinese content. To strengthen its market penetration in Indonesia, iQIYI has also established partnerships with various local companies such as Maxstream (Telkomsel) and Vision+ for local content production.

“The creative economy is the new engine of growth for Indonesia’s economy. Therefore, the Ministry of Creative Economy is ready to explore partnerships that not only bring investment, but also facilitate knowledge transfer and improve the quality of storytelling rooted in local content through platforms such as iQIYI,” said the Minister for Creative Economy at the Ministry’s office in Jakarta on Wednesday (20/5).

The Minister emphasized that the transformation of Indonesia’s creative industry must be built through cross-country and cross-industry collaboration, so that Indonesia does not merely become a market, but also emerges as a globally competitive producer of local content.

“The Ministry of Creative Economy wants Indonesia to become a center for creative economic growth driven by innovation, creativity, and the strength of local stories. Exploring partnerships with global platforms such as iQIYI can create opportunities for Indonesian creative works to reach broader audiences while strengthening the competitiveness of the national creative industry,” explained the Minister.

Through these efforts, iQIYI aims to serve as a bridge for content and cultural exchange between China and Indonesia.

“We see Indonesia as a highly dynamic market with a strong audience base and promising creative talent. We want to become a bridge for cultural and industrial collaboration by bringing more local productions, opening opportunities for cooperation with Indonesian production houses, and supporting the sustainable growth of the creative industry,” said Dinesh Ratnam.

The discussion focused on opportunities for collaboration in developing high-quality content, expanding access to global markets, and potential partnerships in events such as the World Conference on Creative Economy (WCCE) 2026.
