Ministry of Creative Economy Launches AKTIF Animation to Nurture Talented Animators

Jakarta, 4 May, 2026 – The Ministry of Creative Economy/Creative Economy Agency officially launched the AKTIF (Creative Acceleration) Animation Program: Unreal Engine Training to enhance the readiness of Indonesia’s animation talent in responding to the increasingly dynamic evolution of industry technology. The AKTIF Animation program is designed as an acceleration platform for talents who already possess a foundational background in animation.

– Kementerian Ekonomi Kreatif/Badan Ekonomi Kreatif (Ekraf) resmi membuka program AKTIF (Akselerasi Kreatif) Animasi: Unreal Engine Training untuk meningkatkan kesiapan talenta animasi Indonesia dalam menghadapi perkembangan teknologi industri yang semakin dinamis. Minister of Creative Economy/Head of the Creative Economy Agency, Teuku Riefky Harsya, emphasized the importance of strengthening technology-based talent as a key factor in improving the competitiveness of the national animation industry.

“Strengthening talent capacity through the utilization of technology is a crucial step to ensure that Indonesia’s animation industry can compete at the global level. This program is expected to bridge industry needs with adaptive and competent human resources,” said the Minister of Creative Economy, Teuku Riefky Harsya.

Meanwhile, Deputy for Media Creativity at the Ministry of Creative Economy, Cecep Rukendi, stated that the training focuses on enhancing the technical capacity of talents through the application of the latest technologies in animation production processes.

“This training covers the use of Unreal Engine in production processes and improving the efficiency of 3D animation workflows,” said Cecep Rukendi on Monday (4/5).

The program is held at Brown Bag Films Bali, Denpasar, and is the result of collaboration between the government, associations, and players in the animation industry. Cecep also expressed appreciation for the synergy among stakeholders in delivering a program aligned with industry needs.

“On this occasion, we would like to express our appreciation to AINAKI and Brown Bag Films Bali for their commitment to strengthening the creative talent ecosystem. This initiative demonstrates how collaboration can deliver programs that are relevant to market dynamics,” he added.

The training emphasizes the use of real-time production technology through Unreal Engine to improve production efficiency. A total of 25 selected participants out of approximately 70 applicants will undergo intensive training from May 4 to May 29, 2026. The participants are talents with foundational animation skills who will be encouraged to strengthen their technical competencies and job readiness in line with industry demands.

Indonesia’s animation industry has shown significant growth in recent years. This progress is reflected in the increasing quality of works and the transformation from service providers to developers of original Intellectual Property (IP), although challenges remain, including access to financing and the acceleration of production technology adoption.

Recruitment Manager of Brown Bag Films Bali, Rezha Widias, stated that the program serves as a bridge between industry needs and talent readiness. Meanwhile, Secretary General of AINAKI, Eka Chandra, emphasized the importance of continuous skill development amid rapid technological advancements.

“This program aims to bridge industry needs with talent readiness so that the knowledge gained can be optimally absorbed. Participants are also expected to build networks within the animation industry ecosystem,” said Rezha Widias.

“This training is crucial to ensure that talents continuously update their skills, particularly in production processes. Collaboration and networking among industry players are key to strengthening the national animation ecosystem,” added Eka Chandra.

The program also opens opportunities for direct industry engagement for participants who meet the training standards. The synergy between the Ministry of Creative Economy, AINAKI, and Brown Bag Films Bali strengthens the linkage between talent development and industry needs.

The Ministry of Creative Economy reaffirmed that strengthening technology-based talent is a fundamental pillar in building a resilient, inclusive, and competitive animation ecosystem. Through sustained cross-sector collaboration, the animation subsector is expected to become a new driver in reinforcing Indonesia’s position within the global creative industry landscape.
