Jakarta, January 10, 2025 – The Minister of Creative Economy/Head of the Creative Economy Agency, Teuku Riefky Harsya, received an audience from the Indonesian Businesswomen Association (IWAPI) at the Sapta Pesona Building, Jakarta, on Friday, January 10, 2025. Minister of Creative Economy Riefky and IWAPI discussed empowering women to elevate MSMEs (Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises) to drive the creative economy as the new engine of growth.
Minister of Creative Economy Riefky expressed his appreciation for IWAPI’s significant role in empowering women over the years. He affirmed the Ministry of Creative Economy readiness to collaborate in supporting new technologies, financing access, and addressing the challenges faced by MSMEs.
"We recognize IWAPI’s impactful role in empowering women, and we are ready to collaborate to support new technologies, including addressing their challenges. This is not something we can do alone but requires collaboration," said Minister of Creative Economy Riefky.
Deputy Minister of Creative Economy, Irene Umar, also highlighted several the Ministry of Creative Economy programs that align with IWAPI's focus on MSMEs and the development of creative sectors like gaming.
"We have a program called Jajan-Jajanan Lokal (JJL), an application that helps tourists discover local snacks. For example, when tourists arrive at hotels and are unsure about what local snacks to buy, they can scan a barcode to receive recommendations and make direct purchases," explained Deputy Minister of Creative Economy Irene.
During the meeting, IWAPI acknowledged that its vision and mission align with the Ministry of Creative Economy objectives. IWAPI welcomed the opportunity to collaborate in developing the creative economy, enhancing MSME quality, and contributing to the future of Indonesia's younger generations.
"We appreciate the Ministry's ongoing efforts to support and nurture the creative economy. This sector can be a positive platform for young people, shifting them from negative activities to productive ones that contribute to Indonesia's economic growth. The younger generation must play a role in building a better Indonesia," stated IWAPI Chairperson, Nita Yudi.
The meeting was attended by Minister of Creative Economy Teuku Riefky Harsya, Deputy Minister of Cretaive Economy Irene Umar, Deputy for Strategic Development of the Creative Economy Cecep Rukendi, and Deputy for Cultural and Design Creativity Yuke Sri Rahayu. IWAPI Chairperson Nita Yudi and her team were also present.
